Oklahoma City, the reddest large city in America, is the same size as Portland and has a murder rate twice as high.

Republicans are throwing a lot of rocks from their glass houses.
This isn't a red state vs blue state thing. Look at the list again. With the exception of Alaska (which is too different to be compared to any other state), the high crime states are southern states. That's the real problem. Both red and blue areas in the south always rank the worst in various statistics (violence, education, health, IQ, life expectancy, obesity, etc.

Another "blacks sure do kill a lot of people" post from a Democrat. Do you have any idea what you're doing?

Always has been, along with infant mortality, poverty, lack of education, etc. They all go hand in hand.

When I think of the 3 states at the bottom of the list (50,49, and 48) I usually don't think about how low their crime rate is.

I usually think of something else they have in common.
