If Democrats did not support the riots, it would be a lot easier for never trumpers to unite against Trump.

Democrats do not support riots.

Peaceful protests are a constitutional right, riots are not. Democrats do not support rioting and looting, it is always illegal.

Trump is trying to spin a narrative by interposing Federal power where it does not belong. He is actually making things worse, which I believe he feels will help him in the election. But that 'tough talk' is really out of line, he wants to stir things up and create photo ops. The states are responsible for handling these things, and if they need more help the governors are perfectly capable of calling in the state police or even the national guard ... on their own sovereign authority.

We didn't establish the Federal republic with the intention of ending it with a centralized police state, Trump needs to back off before he provokes a constitutional crises.

"Peaceful protest". Dozens dead, and millions if not billions of dollars damage to businesses and city/state/federal buildings? At least the people with signs that say "No justice, no peace" and "defund the poli e" are honest, and don't pretend that they have peaceful protests.
