I'm a gardener too. In fact I am a Georgia certified "master gardener". You are not the world's authority on what is or what is not a garden.

Then you say you are not "bashing the first lady" and three sentences later you accuse her of marrying for money.

Just stop already.
Exactly.

How could anyone say this is not a garden? lol. What on earth..?

It could have been the greatest master piece of all time, and the exact same people who are offended now would still be upset.

Anybody who says it looks better now is lying.

It looks like crap right now.

But it is the dog days of summer. Worst time ever to lay sod, plant new things. It may look better in a month after lots of watering, cooler days and time to grow.

But it looks like crap right now.

It is what it is.

Not Melania's fault. She wouldn't know that it would look like crap for ra bit. She doesn't garden.

Personally I like more color. But the before picture looks pretty bad. When I was in DC a couple of years ago the White House area looked much worse than I remember it being from before. Just not well maintained.

I liked the tulips why did she remove them? Also the flowering trees were pretty.
Nothing against Melania, but the before was actually nicer.

In the "after" gardening pics it appears they were removed and planted over. It doesn't look like there would be room to even bloom if they were still there.

Handicap accessibility is a good thing. Just now many do you think gets to casualty stroll the white house? If you can get your congressman to give you your tickets, and you can get past all the security, you get to see 5 rooms. So I'm sure this grand improvement in accessibility will get lots of use.

Perhaps it is the sycophancy people object to.
