The discrepancies made the buildings appear more profitable to the lender — and less profitable to the officials who set the buildings’ property tax.

For instance, Trump told the lender that he took in twice as much rent from one building as he reported to tax authorities during the same year, 2017. He also gave conflicting occupancy figures for one of his signature skyscrapers, located at 40 Wall Street.”

Also from last year:

“But for years, one Trump loan has been particularly mystifying: a debt of more than $50 million that Trump claims he owes to one of his own companies. According to tax and financial experts, the loan, which Trump has never fully explained, might be part of a controversial tax avoidance scheme known as debt parking.
...
Here’s what is publicly known about this mystery debt: On the personal financial disclosure forms that Trump must file each year as president, he has divulged that he owes “over $50 million” to a company called Chicago Unit Acquisition LLC. The forms note that this entity is fully owned by Trump. In other words, Trump owes a large chunk of money to a company he controls.“

If you’re curious, you might want to also check out the allegations regarding Trump misstating revenue for his golf courses in Scotland and Ireland...

What I’ve never understood is why Trump ever thought running for president was a good idea given the scrutiny that comes with.
Did no one advise him that it just wouldn’t be prudent?

I always wondered why myself, but I don't think he thought he would win and was using that as leverage for his show.

Would you let the police search your home/car/person without a warrant if you've done nothing wrong? I thought not. Go away.
“You see the mob takes the Fifth,” he said. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” Donald Trump

As you can see you got the bolded wrong as it is the Republicans.

As I tried to point out to that poster, nobody on this thread is denying that Eric Trump has a constitutional right to follow the mafia code of omerta. We're just noting the irony and hypocrisy of Trump connecting people who plead the 5th amendment to the mob. And now it's his own son.

We can expect something unsavory about Donald Trump, his family, associates, or his business every week until the election. Melania is on tape now dishing Donald and his princes. I have lost count the last two weeks. It is as if people on both sides of the isle have a common enemy.

So what. That technique is used by the left. Maybe he took a clue from them. Good for him.

Every accusation is a confession with this lot.

Oh look a "both sides are bad" attempt.

Sorry but no. Thats utter nonsense. If people on the left commit a crime, they should go to jail. It seems like the only people trying to claim "well if they committed a crime they shouldn't be punished" seems to be folks on the right.

Do you have an example of somebody "on the left" saying "Only guilty people plead the 5th!", though?

Is this difficult? No one is criticizing Half-Scoop for the action of taking the Fifth. We're heaping ridicule on his father and his followers, who had a very different take on the implications of taking the Fifth, when it wasn't one of Trump's brood in the hot seat.
