If he goes into hiding, he won't be able to file all the delicious civil suits which are coming after this trial.
Every news outlet, every reporter - every person with an audience who called him a murderer, claimed he was hunting black people, falsely asserted as fact that he crossed state lines with a gun... ALL of those people defamed him, and a LOT of them are going to get sued.
If you think Nick Sandmann filed a lot of lawsuits, just wait.
Nonsense. Who has an assault rifle? In my world anyone carrying an AR15 is being aggressive. I guess if the aggressor had a 105mm recoiless rifle it would be different. But does that occur in reality,.

No. He won't go into the witness protection program.
It seems somewhat likely that he'll be acquitted, and in the next few months people will forget about him and move onto the next thing to obsess over.
The prosecution is asking for the jury to be able to consider lesser charges than he's being tried for - and the implication is obvious. They think there's a very good chance a jury won't convict on murder.
And disgustingly, the prosecutors are hoping to get him on lesser charges and spend a few years in prison to save face. Jerks!
