So, how do you suggest the police take him into custody when he's already been tazed, and is ignoring commands and possibly going for a weapon in his car?
Are they supposed to wait and confirm that he has a weapon by letting him retrieve it and then shooting at them or others nearby?
Are cops just supposed to just let anyone go who doesn't want to be arrested?
I suppose become a willing target and martyr. At least people would mourn rather than vilify.

Yep, let the armed violent sex offender steal the car and abduct the kids. What could go wrong. At least he will be in prison for a while and those poor children will be safer.
