I know someone who lived close to the inner city and use to hear gunshots every night, a young girl around 13 was shot and killed on her front porch while doing her homework, I’ve been in that area and it is scary having to walk around homeless sleeping on the sidewalks. Where Ilive I always have to keep my car locked and alarmed set. By the way it’s majority white, so it’s not about being black.
Yeah, stray bullets are a thing in these high crime neighborhoods, you'll be injured or killed in crossfire, not even being targeted. Young kids had to sleep in bathtubs during times of high crime.
I've noticed an interesting vibe I pick up on this site, and in the media. When discussing the crime, rioting, and violence in inner cities like Chicago, St. Louis, Portland, Seattle, etcetera, it seems like conservatives tend to emphasize how bad the crime has been while liberals tend to downplay it. Women are typically more concerned about crime than men are, regardless of political affiliation. But even among men, I'm seeing this divide where men on the left are fine with living in a dangerous inner city neighborhood and don't think it's that dangerous while men on the right avoid the inner city at all costs and are scared of inner city crime. I see that conservative men are more concerned with crime and therefore are more likely to buy a gun to protect themselves and others.
I see this divide where conservatives will say that crime (and the culture of poverty that creates it) is the single biggest issue holding back the inner city while liberals argue that it is racism and income inequality.
Does anyone else see this trend?
Liberals on this site downplay because it's being conducted by their own political party.
The rioters are largely left wing, and the cities in which they are rioting are largely left wing.
Also, the people allowing it to continue are largely left wing.
So of course they are going to try to downplay it. it has nothing to do with which side is more "afraid of crime."
Crime has steadily decreased every year. Republicans exist on the fear mongering about crime even as it becomes less common. The Republican politicians go on and on about ho bad it is now.
So since that's simply not true, they do this because it results in more votes. This doesn't seem to resonate in Democratic elections as much.
1960s had really low rates -but they skyrocketed in the 70's. Since then everything has gone down except for rape. Rapes been going up while murder, robbery, violent crimes, etc have dropped. Murder went down by half since 1980.
There are none as fearful as Trump apologists. They are afraid of their own shadow.
Just last night Trump was talking about men is dark shadows, and a plane full of looters going to some mysterious destination, and the eyes of the FOX viewers were like saucers.
Democrats watch cities burning and are able to deny that it's happening. No wonder they're unafraid, denial of reality is powerful in them.
Dems don't get news from wacked conspiracy websites and Fox News so they have a much more realistic appreciation for what is really going on and, of course, are much more at ease. Many Dems also live in the cities that Trump and the nutball right is trying to paint as chaotic and dangerous, so they know better.

Ha, ha, ha... The left protests in our area and have a police escort. I have confronted the protestors and they run with their tail between their legs and fast. They are all high and mighty until BOOM they get reality and no cops around. They are brave with police in the area. You let the chips fall, they crumble like little babies crying for mommy.
