I was flabbergasted.
Everyone should pray for our president, regardless of who that person is or what party they are from. I do not know what the context is for the paraphrasing that you offered. But a priest leading a prayer generically for whoever our president is after November 3 is a biblical and entirely appropriate thing for any church leader to do.

Having said that, however, in many small towns, churches are one of the largest buildings they have for large gatherings. They are used for all kinds of things - speeches, thrift shops, AA meetings, Christmas craft fairs, fund raisers, etc.

I believe Biden was in a small town when he was speaking so using the church doesn't surprise me. I don't have a problem with it because I've lived in small towns and have seen things done in churches all the time. In my town, the church actually hosts the farmers market outside. You use the facility you have available.
I agree. There is a difference in using the building for an political event and political speeches to the congregation during service.

I would not be ok with a church being political and discussing politics via church services but have no problem with a church letting candidates deliver speeches in the church building.

A church building is not the same thing as the church, for those who did not know.

A church can and should lose their tax exempt status if they allow this.

I tried and left the Church altogether because they were preaching politics instead of Christ's teachings-- NAH---- Ichabod!
