Scott W. Atlas, MD, is a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He is serving as a special adviser to the president and is a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

Dr. Atlas, the most recent addition to the White House Coronavirus Task force, provides an excellent synopsis of where we are with our progress through the coronavirus saga. Case fatality rates are way down, deaths and hospitalizations are way down, and a JAMA Pediatrics study of North America Pediatrics hospitals flatly stated “our data indicate that children are at far greater risk of critical illness from influenza than from COVID-19.”

It is time to reopen the schools. The scientists and the medical "experts" have very largely agreed on this point. So for those who like to manipulatively insist that everyone must "believe the science," they will surely want to agree with this.

Quote:
It's Time to Reopen Our Schools & Economy Safely

Here’s what we now know:

We know who is at risk. Only 0.2 percent of U.S. deaths have been people younger than 25, and 80 percent have been in people over 65; the average fatality age is 78. A JAMA Pediatrics study of North American pediatric hospitals flatly stated that “our data indicate that children are at far greater risk of critical illness from influenza than from COVID-19.”

We may see more cases as social interactions pick up, because this is a contagious disease. However, the overwhelming majority of cases are now occurring in younger, low-risk people — decades younger, on average, than seen in the spring. And the vast majority of these people deal with the infection without consequence; many don’t even know they have it.

While we saw more cases in July and August, we are not seeing the explosion of deaths we saw early on. An analysis of CDC data shows that the case fatality rate has declined by approximately 85 percent from its peak.

{More at the link}
And now after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi - 80 years old and hardly a model of physical fitness - has shown by her actions that she is not concerned with the risks of this virus to someone with her profile, surely it is time for all of us to move forward with our lives, especially our children. The show must go on.

Of course anyone with extreme morbidities that puts them at extreme risk needs to take the appropriate precautions. That cannot and will not continue to be the standard that is imposed on our entire society. Unless Joe Biden is elected president, of course.

Never. And it still doesn't.

Atlas is yet another idiot brought on by Trump to do what Trump wants him to do. And not what’s right for Americans.

We should be like China at this point. Instead we’ve not only been dealing with the pandemic for 6 months, the coming months are set up to be worse than the first 6. Here we are with no real plan on how to handle and control the virus.

Idiot Trump is still at, “it’s going to go away on its own” BS mantra. Evident in one of his many interview low points when he said. “It will eventually go away, I will be right one day”. No, Trump will never be right. You don’t say it will go away on its own months ago, and when it’s eventually gone you’re all of a sudden right. That’s asinine, but Trump is asinine.

Yes. Lets see how many people in Wuhan we can wipe out. Send 100,000 wooden boxes and bury them secretly. Spread the virus around the world. China is just who we should emulate.

So we don't listen to Stanford experts if they don't agree with us. They're hacks, right? Do you not have any sense of how you sound?

Only concern is anyone who is obese, has diabetes, had bloodborne diseases, has autoimmune disorders, compromised immune systems, various infections like meningitis, anemia, sickle cell, smoke, have respiratory disease issues, are younger than 5, are older than 60, or have circulatory disease issues are at a great risk from serious medical complications from COVID 19. That's a huge chunk of the US pop. Probably same with regards to the flu. Only difference is virus can live outside of the body longer and less defenses against the virus.

These are the same guys that lobby the US government in favor of open borders. It’s hilarious to see Trump supporters aligning themselves with a libertarian institution.

Its kind of brain dead to decide whether you agree with anyone simply because of their philosophy. And its the antithesis of science.

You look at whether what they say makes sense. Of course, its hard to agree with the left (Few like Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone are exceptions) because all they say is "Orange man bad. Russia bad, except when Obama says they aren't."
