You are seriously going to get fanatic in analyzing the facial expression of a 16 year old, who was doing nothing wrong, and who did not instigate a single thing that happened?
And even if it was a smirk, so what? It is a 16 year old along with others, getting yelled at with racial language from some black people, and some idiot old guy walking up and getting in his face, yea, an adult deciding to go up and confront a group of kids doing nothing. The kid had all rights to smirk, and probably do a few other things when that adult banging his stupid drum engaged in a confrontation with him.
But yea, keep harping on the kid.
Well said, let’s not bash the people, especially the adults who wanted to target someone young to intimidate, let’s bash the kid they were insulting.
Never did get a explanation on this forum, of what his actual "wrongdoing" was - something about a smirk was the closest to a simple answer .... deserving of a punch in the face, according to one poster.
I guess your suppose to hug those who are harassing you
Transylvania University has responded to my inquiry with the following statement:
A college campus is a place where the wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and opinions of the community — students, staff, faculty and alumni — meet. Transylvania, like nearly every campus, is composed of those holding the full range of viewpoints. These differences often form the backbone of a vibrant and challenging educational experience. In this place of divergence, we strive to foster dialogue and listen to each other with generosity and a presumption of goodwill in the pursuit of understanding.
The goal of a liberal arts education is to give students the skills and ability to engage in encounters that may cause them to reflect and think differently or to understand and validate their original belief or viewpoint. In either case, the exposure to the ideas, individuals and diverse viewpoints and the subsequent reflection is the critical aspect.
There are two things that, as a university, we are not able to discuss: our students (without their permission) and personnel matters. In response to posts on social media and other websites over the Labor Day weekend, we reiterate that point. A review of the situation will be conducted expeditiously by the appropriate university officials.
Somebody rightfully got in trouble. Hopefully big trouble. The good professor must have forgotten he was teaching in blood red Kentucky at a private school. The people writing those tuition checks are more likely to be supportive of Sandman than him.

The ACLU used to do honorable decent things back in the day. They've been too far lefty progressive for a while now. They have zero credibility in my book.
That is not surprising, its where we are at currently in society, instead of people agreeing to disagree, they now want the other person DEAD or in jail for life!
Im still of the opinion, the kid was smirking at the Indian man, Ive seen that smirk before, its a sort of "Im so much better of a person than you are' type expression, but at the same time, I also realize that some peoples facial expressions can be misinterpreted, some people have that 'angry look' all the time, but truth is, they are not angry at all, it is possible this kid had one of those kinds of faces...
Although growing up in the same area as him and personally knowing kids who went to Covington Catholic, many of them are very arrogant and have large egos, Covington Catholic is in a fairly wealthy area and many of the students come from money, it would not surprise me in the least for a Cov Cath student to smirk at someone they thought was 'beneath them'.
I saw a nervous what-the-heck-is-happening smile. They endured an hour of racial abuse and vitriol from the Black Hebrew Israelites and then some guy comes right up to him beating a drum inches from his face. Anyone who watches the video without the biases you have would see it that way, because that’s what happened plain as day.

Anyone with a brain and eyes to see should be supportive of Sandmann. These people should have a lot more sympathy for racists because they do exactly what racists do when it comes to conservatives.
An assistant professor and diversity scholar at the university, Dr. Avery Tompkins, commented on the post calling Sandmann’s “public behavior and rhetoric atrocious and uninformed” and saying he would closely monitor Sandmann at the school.
“We can’t not admit academically qualified students due to their political and personal views. If he ends up in my Intro class, fine. He might learn something that is actually based on research and evidence,” he said.
Where do you even start with this. An assistant professor of diversity does not no this kid but already developed an opinion based on media coverage of the kid. You would think someone that taught a class called “activism and social media” would keep an open mind on how this kid was reserve judgement until she met him.
As for the jab at him learning something that is actually based on research and evidence, does she really want to convince us she is really a man? Where’s the evidence. Personally I don’t care what she wants to identify as, but she is actually really close minded.
