He NEVER shut down travel from China. He restricted incoming from China to anyone who wasn't Chinese.
So that meant from January 31st to mid April over 430,000 travelers came from China.
Travel from Europe was not restricted until March 12, 2020. AND again, American citizens, green card holders, etc.....were not restricted and were 'asked' to quarantine. The east coast spread of the virus was from European travel.
yet the left (Joe Biden in particular) called him a RACIST ZENOPHOBE for the travel ban.

There is no getting around the fact that Trump lied and thousands died needlessly. You can shout as loud as you want, the facts don't care.

AND he used Presidential powers to force American Manufacturing to retool to build medical supplies.

The president gave the ok to shutdown a thriving economy based on horrifically flawed models at the urging of Fauci and Birx in late March. What’s unfolded since has been a slow-moving train wreck that Democrats are exploiting. If anything, Trump took the threat too seriously.
It is a new flu, without question more people will get sick and will die. Those with precondition will likely die as they are vulnerable. Still this is just a flu and there is no reason to get public to panic. There is also no need to have people wear a mask, keep business closed etc. It's time to reopen the country and have people get back to work.
It's a new flu with devastating impact on our death toll and our health care system EVEN with such drastic social distancing measures. The country was 'almost' closed and we still saw death rates that far exceeded anything we have seen in our lifetime.

Too bad the American people aren't fooled here....56.8 percent of the American People disapprove of how Trump handled covid. This revelation WILL NOT help Trump when he so.....desparately......needs help....in more ways than one
Hearing audio of Trump's own words on tape is infuriating. I don't see how he survives this politically. He flat out lied to the American public and politicized a virus he knew himself was deadly and would kill large numbers of people. This is damning and a violation of the public's trust.
Note that Fox News is silent on the biggest story of the day.
Doesn't matter what Trump says Trump will still have massive support in this country will it be enough to win the white house again. Personally I don't think so, but this is not a normal election, and Biden not the strongest candidate. I still think Biden will pull it off by small margin in a lot of states.
