I do not believe the danger of COVID-19 has been overblown, and I do agree that the lockdowns were necessary to prevent a complete overload of our health care system. I am confident that once an effective vaccine is in widespread circulation life will gradually return to normal. I do not in any way, shape, or form believe that Democrats any more than Republicans wish for lockdowns to go on any longer than necessary.

Some people just won't follow the science and admit that the job of a virus is to take out the old, the weak and the sick.

They won't admit that most victims have already lived a long, full life. Those that were younger were diseased and unhealthy or otherwise genetically inferior.

FOLLOW THAT SCIENCE.

As soon as Covid vaccine is as widely available as the flu shot, they should open everything up.

And what if there is never a vaccine?

I mean the last pandemic lasted 3 years

I think the key is you are going to need metrics and ways to give a good old slap to States that don't comply

Mandate mask orders and follow COVID metrics with numbers for phases of open...No federal aid till do so.

Complete shut down if cases are 60% more of State

At 30% phase 1 opening of outdoor restaurants and non essential employees can return to work

Phase 2 at 20% limited seating allowed in restaurants and gyms/movie theaters can open up at 20 to 30 percent capacity. Hair and cosmetic places can open up. Can resume outpatient care.

Phase 3 10% Schools can return back with 30% of normal occupancy and utilize in person schooling with online learning. Bars and dance clubs can open up with 20% occupancy.

At 6 months nationwide of 5% or less restrictions disasspear

How long should we wear masks? When can we stop?

Smallpox is the only infectious disease to have ever been eradicated. It is not logical to believe that coronavirus will be eradicated.

As with previous infectious diseases resulting in pandemics, it will mutate and weaken becoming less lethal than it already is. At some point, the percentage of people that have been exposed and/or have been vaccinated (provided the vaccine is at least as effective as the flu vaccine) will result in the end of the pandemic.

A dead host is a useless host.

It seems you are pretty far in the conspiracy world.

Those of us who follow current events know that in April they said below 5% positivity rate was recommended. NYC got it down to 1% early on and kept it there, while Florida ignored it, and ended up 20% in some places. Now FL is down to 6% and even the Republican mayors are allowing restaurants to reopen.
