The left loves their strawmen and meaningless catch phrases. In this case "hate group" = "anyone that has interests counter to ours". They have nothing else to attack but straw men.
The the Left's threshold for "hate group" were applied to their groups, then most of their groups would be "hate groups".
How many on the Left have been photographed or otherwise connected with the BLM "hate group" and antifa "hate group"?

Pity for them that they weren't Leftist blm or antifa. If they were then they'd be on the streets burning down businesses, beating and terrorizing people, or murdering someone at this time of the night.
