The Anderson Coooper-Woodward inteview last night was pretty interesting/telling.
When all is said and done, years from now, it will be Trump's relationship w/ the media that will be his major failure. He's always made the majority of the media the enemy in everything he does. Some expert politicians in our history have found ways to use the media in their favor. Listening to Woodward tapes just reinforces Trump's constant clash with the majority of media sources.
Trump despises the media in the same way our past presidents despised arch foreign enemies.
If he reported it when he heard it he would have had the same tape he has today to prove the president said what he says he said.
I would still think the same thing.........molehill turned into mountain by journalist.
Any sane person, especially a journalist who truly believed that nothing was being done to combat the virus based on Trumps downplaying it would have reported it. The only logical conclusion you can come to is that Woodward knew that what Trump said had no bearing on what was being done.
As the president, Trump had a duty to be honest with the country. He failed. TRUMP KNOWINGLY LIED, Woodward simply didn't release the recordings. Woodward did the only thing within his power and that is to release the information during election season so the public could make an informed decision. It's not lied Trump and his Republican defenders wouldn't have rushed to attack Woodward, block any investigation and try to make Trump a victim. We know that's what they would do. This was the only effective path Woodward could take. If they still elect Trump, they do so knowing what Trump did.
Trump has lot's of duties but causing panic over something that isn't yet understood isn't one of them. That's just a fact. Nothing he could have said would have change anything. and he didn't even lie. He followed the lead of the CDC and prevailing medical advice of the time.

Trumps relationship with the media was set by the media. It's THEIR failure, not his.

He lied. And lied. And lied. So save the bs he did the right thing.

Rofl. Nope. He created his contention with the media.

How did the media fail. Fail who? Viewership and clicks are probably at an all-time high. They've called him out on 20,000+ lies and mistruths. They've held Trump accountable.
Trump's favorabilities have always been poor. He's always fighting with them and it makes him appear unbalanced, unsettled with misplaced priorities.
Better leaders (FDR) used the media as a tool to accomplish quite a lot.
Trump's failure with the media will lead to his downfall and history will show him to be unbalanced, vengeful, and one of the worst presidents.
That just stokes the fire...it doesn't resolve anything.
Seems Woodward was right all along about the Syria assassination. Trump said Woodward was lying.
Trump was the liar in chief once against.
How can we trust anything he says.
Listening to the Woodward interviews, you can hear the rage concerning the media. No rage toward dictator Kim Jong Un, no rage against the virus, no rage against anything but the media from the interviews. Misplaced anger. Nixon had the same sort of behavior - in addition to his anger to the DEMs. For Nixon is got petty with the media to the point he was manipulating which media were allowed on Air Force One.
Trump enjoys being kissed up to and his ego stroked. The media wasn't about to do that (except Fox). Kim Jong Un coddled Trump and got a warm reception. Both got Trump's better side.
Woodward's reporting is meaningless because nothing would have changed.
It doesn't matter what Trump said, he was taking the appropriate actions to combat the virus. That is all that matters.
Woodward's actions don't change the fact the trump administration has been a complete and total failure in dealing with covid.
We all knew he was downplaying it when this started. Having him admit to it doesn't change what we already knew, just confirms it.
