Why does Trump find the need to lie about plant openings and non existent success in the auto industry? Trump has give $64 billion to the auto industry for investments. So far 4 plants in the planning stages. Two foreign owned. About 8,000 proposed jobs. 1.7 million work in the auto industry. However Trump bragged:
"Many plants are being built right now - auto plants - in Michigan, just like I said. They're being built in Ohio, they're being built in South Carolina, North Carolina, they're being built all over and expanded at a level that we've never seen before. Cause I said to Japan, Germany and others, 'Sorry, you've got to come here and build plants, otherwise we're going to have to make it very tough on you with tariffs.' Fact Check:
There are no new plants in Ohio, North Carolina or South Carolina. Mercedes-Benz, a German company, and Volvo, a Swedish company, both opened plants in South Carolina in 2018, but the projects broke ground in 2015, before Trump was elected. So that doesn't count.
Trump is a liar. His base covers for his lies. They are ok being lied to. When Trump' s lies are exposed, they change the subject (to Obama or Hillary or Biden) or just say TDS when Trump's lies are exposed. Or they spin to explain why it's not a lie (when it is a blatant lie).

Are any plants in the early planning phase? Is that what he is alluding to? Perhaps the auto manufacturers have committed, leased, or bought the lands, but are now in the permitting process, or its delayed due to covid?
I'm not sure, & I don't feel like doing the research to find out, but I'll bet he's boasting about something that is to happen in the future. I doubt its a 100% blatant lie...more likely an exaggeration.
If not, he's lying, and I dont care for that, but his lies about rebuilding U.S. manufacturing, are less harmful than Biden pretending he's still a moderate, & 100% against socialism.
Trump's lie doesn't confiscate all I've worked for, & my freedoms, while Biden's potentially can. Big diff.

I would prefer neither lied. But starting with Bill Clinton, GW Bush and so on lying is accepted for a POTUS.

I am going to look into this further. He did say plants are being built right now like never before. Its somewhat subjective as to like we have never seen before but 8,000 new jobs and 4 plants over several years can't possibly the most ever. Since 1.7 million work in that industry. And these 4 plants are in the planning stages not being built now.
