I've been disgusted by pro sports for a while. It used to be that a middle-class family could go to a pro game for a very comfortable sum of money.
Not anymore. I could go on a short vacation for what I would spend at a game for family of five.
That’s been true for a while. 5 years ago my kids bought 4 seats, upper deck for an mlb game. When you added in the parking, the hot dogs, the little helmet ice cream cups, it totaled over $400.
“Cancel culture refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive."
A boycott is organized, not just people saying no.
I think the worship of sports and sports figures have been out of hand for decades. I like football, but think it is a tremendously dangerous game that can cause permanent brain damage and other physical issues. I won't miss it.
Not everyone else. Only triggered alt-right are alienating themselves.
I'm sure that must be the view from the far left....don't worry, I'm here to give the viewpoint from the middle.
Everyday people don't want sports polluted with politics or social commentary. I get why the lunatics on the far left want it....their politics is essentially their religion, but normal people don't appreciate it.
The sports leagues who pander to the far left knuckle draggers IMO are likely to alienate most normal people...perhaps not enough to abandon their fandom, but certainly it'll be a hit to their investment in the league.
Funny enough, most far left knuckle draggers that the leagues are pandering to would be absolutely fine if the leagues folded. They are pandering to people who aren't even really those who support them.
