Yes, and you misused it to present a meaning completely unrelated to what was said. Because you are dishonest. It's not complicated.

One month in a row. Awesome.

These are the y-t-d numbers. This year several cops have been shot, but I don't have those numbers.

Year to Date

Evidently you need to review the definitions of "figurative" and "non-literal".

Bye.

Barr gives Operation Legend update: Chicago murder rate drops by 'roughly' half and 2,500 arrests made nationwide

Attorney General William Barr highlighted the Justice Department’s Operation Legend on Wednesday, announcing that Chicago’s murder rate has dropped by "roughly" half in August after spiking this summer, and he pointed to 2,500 federal arrests nationwide as part of the multicity anti-crime effort.

Barr discussed Chicago’s murder rate in recent months — 58 murders in April, 84 murders in May, 96 murders in June, and 108 murders in July — and said that Operation Legend’s arrival in Chicago on July 22 played a role in helping stem the tide, with only 64 murders in August.

Barr said "We have dedicated hundreds of the federal government’s best investigators, analysts, fugitive trackers, and other experts to work with our state and local colleagues in law enforcement here in Chicago to help get violent criminals off the streets. I am pleased to report that Operation Legend is working. Crime is down, and order is being restored to this great American city.”

Arrests made in
Albuquerque
Chicago
Cleveland
Detroit
Indianapolis
Kansas City
Milwaukee
Memphis
St. Louis

1) Is this working and will it continue to work?
2) what is the difference between this and just giving a city money earmarked for law enforcement assistance?
Something that happened 2/3 of the way through the month caused this?
Did the murder rate drop in all those cities?

that could be the essential question, it would take a little work comparing stats for each of those cities and see if there is a trend or not

yes Trump keeps saying once they bring in Fed agents crime problems and rioting are solved in "30 minutes'

It's like the shock and awe campaign on Iraq in 2003. It works for a short time and then the situation returns
shortly after

Last year at this time, Cook County (mostly Chicago) had 487 murders. As of mid-September, they're at 677 - beating 2019's total year by two, which was 675.

Saying there was a drop for one month when the net result is so bad is a little like focusing on increased ratings for one week of the NFL season.
