We have seen many examples of reckless behavior, greed will always Trump common sense. We are nowhere near herd immunity at the current infection rate and no one is proposing closing for the next 10 years. We need to be smart like Canada instead of ignoring this disease as if it doesn’t exist.
San Francisco has had open gym in government facilities for months. They don't seem to be concerned.

Only look at deaths from COVID only. The rest is a joke.
COVID isn't deadly at all now. Things have changed. Protect people that are sick or very old. The rest of us should live as normal.
This IS a FEDERAL judge. I don't think this board understands what this can lead to!
Anyone thinking the Democratic lockdown policies were rooted in science should read the federal court decision striking down the lockdowns. Dems treated it as a "theoretical white paper," rewriting the rules on a whim, leaving who could work and who could live always "in flux."
Wow, how true!!!!! One has to wonder why they always get a pass!!! No church, no gatherings, but protestors? They do as they please.
The reason for all such decisions is less about corruption, bias or cruelty, than a simple calculation of covering one's posterior.
If a protest is "shut down" for 'rona reasons, then the optics are horrible. Authorities get accused of discrimination, barbarism, intolerance and heavy-handedness. Posteriors get, ahem, exposed. So, it's a lesser headache to let the protests proceed, than to police them; even for serious public officials who are actually concerned with the public welfare, it's a lesser evil to let the virus spread via protesters, than to stymie the protests.
But if say a gym is shut down, the fallout is minor. There is no strong gym-lobby to raise cackles. There, the posterior-coverage is best advanced by mandating a shutdown, even if actual 'rona transmission from gym-attendance is tiny. The point isn't about attenuating a likely actual risk to public health, but rather, that any visible activity that appears to advance public health, at low apparent cost, is going to look wise and leader-like.
So, anything that's easy to shut down, that checks the box for making appearances to do something about public health, will get shut down - whether or not there's an actual clinical reason for doing so. And anything that's too contentious or logistically problematic to shut down, won't get shut down, even if public-health case is compelling indeed.
Yes, it's flagrantly a double-standard! But the explanation is less about political biases, than about simple cover-your-ass self-preservation.

Then dude move to Canada. You should really be fine in communist New York though. Just mind your own business and don't force your backwards ass beliefs on people.

I find that the right likes people to have freedoms and the left likes to take freedoms away. Lets look at it shall we?
1. Trump gave power to the states, so Trump believes states should be FREE to do as they see fit.
2. Democratic states hammered people very hard, yet they also dumped sick people in old folks homes all over the place causing a lot of death. Actually most of the deaths are on the democrat's hands in how they treated the elderly.
3. Trump continues to believe in freedoms.
4. Biden a democrat wants to mandate masks all the time! Um, no thanks if I am jogging or whatever away from others!
I want freedoms. Sorry leftists. No thanks to you.
I hope every single business that was illegally shutdown sues the governor for every penny of lost revenue. And I hope the same thing happens in every state that implemented these ridiculous lockdowns.

Classic leftist bull****. In Illinois a state senator pushing a massive tax increase just admitted to federal tax evasion.
