Texas is going after the police. What is Abbott planning there by sending in the rangers?

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Hamilton Chief of Police Tony Yocham, who lost the race for the Republican nomination for Somervell County Sheriff in the spring, was arrested Saturday morning by the Texas Rangers on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

He was posted a $500,000 bond and was released from the Johnson County Jail.

Yocham has been fired, Hamilton’s mayor said Monday.

According to Somervell Chief Deputy Dwayne Griffin, the county sheriff’s had enough probable cause to hand off the information to the Texas Rangers.

Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Lonny Haschel said, as a result of the Texas Rangers investigation, “Tony Yocham was arrested and booked into the Johnson County jail on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child.”

The Ranger investigation is ongoing.

No additional information is currently available.

I don't know ... maybe he actually abused someone... Do you know something that we don't?

This man was the Chief of Police. It’s likely that they were tracking him for some time. Not seeing where Texas is going after police in general.

"Texas is going after the police. What is Abbott planning there by sending in the rangers?"

Think about it. You can't have the Police Chief's own detectives investigate him. By who's order would that come from anyway. Besides, you would chance them covering for him or in court some could say it was revenge or something (lack of promotions, no telling what). Calling in the Texas Rangers was the best call ever, that's one of the reasons they exist.

But a different branch, no connection. When you have a suspected bad apple in the department it must be investigated by an outside, independent source, SOP.

The story and your statement don't seem to have anything to do with each other.

A pedo gets busted. He happens to be the police chief. Nobody is above the law and sexually abusing little kids is a despicable crime in every state but California, where such behavior is encouraged apparently.

What's any of that got to do with the State of Texas "going after the police."???

Don't worry about Chief of Police Tony Yocham losing his job. Trump will probably appoint him Homeland Security Chief in Charge of the "Teen-age Girls in Cages Program". Maybe he caught a case of Trump-Epstein-Barr disease.
