The English Language Unity Act has been filed to “declare English as the official language of the United States, to establish a uniform English language rule for naturalization, and to avoid misconstructions of the English language texts of the laws of the United States, pursuant to Congress’ powers to provide for the general welfare of the United States and to establish a uniform rule of naturalization under Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution.”
The passage of official English legislation in H.R. 997 in the House, as well as in S. 678 in the Senate, will save Americans billions of dollars in current, government-mandated translation and interpretation costs, and also will encourage cultural and linguistic assimilation by new arrivals to our nation.
Note that not a single Democrat signed on to this? They want us to be a balkinized country via "immigration" and others who have no desire to assimilate into our society linguistically.
I do not support the legislation of language usage. It's not necessary. The United States has already absorbed massive waves of non-english speaking immigrants and never needed to legally enforce language. It would only serve to politicize language, which would stir up controversy, and cause new problems.
This is no threat to the English language in the United States. Spanish is not a growing language. If you just ignore it, it will disappear with the generations.

It would save the taxpayers billions of dollars by not having to print official government policies/laws in multiple languages.

Did you even bother to read the link that I provided? It makes a lot of sense. No one would be denied the right to speak another language if they so choose if the bill passes. Spanish is not a growing language?
This bill is a solution to an imagined problem. Spanish is a typical immigrant language. There is no growth or generational transfer of the Spanish Language in the United States.

If you go to any country in the world, they'll have anything of substance in English, as well as other languages. Why should the USA surrender our position as WORLD Economic Leaders?
If you believe in America, you would not be afraid of these 3rd world countries that Trump and others like him have trained you to fear so much. Think about it. Why would they want to distract you by giving you imaginary boogey men like Mexico and Guatamala?
