The Veterans Affairs Department was notorious for its poorly managed health care system, and the Obama-Biden administration promised to end the horrendous backlog in VA benefits claims, some of which languished for years.
But the backlog of VA claims, which had been on the decline when Obama and Biden took office, skyrocketed on their watch. Unprocessed claims exceeded 900,000, with roughly two-thirds of all claims idling for 125 days or longer.
From 2011 to 2013, the time it took to process claims increased 40 percent, to an unthinkable 272 days. As a result of this backlog surge the number of veterans who died waiting for care and benefits skyrocketed.
And the Obama-Biden administration did nothing.
Even after reports of vets dying waiting for care started getting attention, the administration didn’t seem interested in solving the problem. In fact, as reports of falsified waiting lists and unnecessary deaths at hospitals nationwide started being reported by the media, the Obama-Biden administration not only refused to conduct its own investigation, but actually retaliated against whistleblowers.
... more than 300,000 veterans died while waiting for care from Obama and Biden’s Department of Veterans Affairs, according to an Inspector General report released in September 2015.

Well, maybe they wanted to down-play it for a good reason like not wanting to start a huge panic.
You have got to be kidding me with that one... it wasn't an out of control virus - it was mismanagement. They did nothing and attacked whistle blowers who spoke up about it.
I don't know how you can defend this. There are no state or local governing officials in play like there is with the COVID response.
Let's also not forget the several hundred stillborn deaths that occurred under his watch during the Flint Michigan water crisis. Another example of his do nothing approach to fixing problems.

They failed. Someone should ask Biden about it.
Oh come on. It was funny. I gave him a rep for it. I'm still laughing.
First off do you think that hospitals aren't killing people through negligence today under Trump? I've seen things covered up that would terrify anyone from not wanting to be in a hospital. Do you think the VA is any different in that respect today?
Yes the enrollment process was flawed, that doesn't mean other care in regular hospitals wasn't available. I've taken care of vets in the private sector. To say that Obama/Biden was responsible for these deaths is a stretch. Nobody who is sick is going to wait for the VA. They have and will go to another hospital.
Trump is caught on tape confessing that he knew early on that Covid was a highly contagious airborne disease, yet, encourages the rubes to attend his super spreader rallies without masks on? You seriously want to spin enrollment flaws in the VA under Obama into something more insidious than what Trump has done?
Well, desperate times call for low information desperate measures I guess.

Not sure what you people expect from the man.
He said he was going to "fundamentally transform" America.
He never said it wouldn't **** ***** after it was "transformed".

"Nobody who is sick is going to wait for the VA."
If you have a complex, chronic condition, your only other alternative to waiting the better part of a year for an appointment might be to start over with a new doctor that can do nothing for you except to refer you to a specialist, so it's a roll of the dice which will take less time.
Vets should have never been put in that position.
As for Covid-19, it's a newly mutated virus that we are just learning about now.
You may not think down-playing it was the right thing to do, but hyping the danger could have been far more dangerous.
Apart from runs on toilet paper and hand sanitizer, people didn't panic much.
Had the food chain broke down more than it did because terrified workers refused to enter processing plants, the **** may have really hit the fan.
Biden doesn't know this, but shutting it down isn't really an option.
