So we should shut down our economy until we cure rape? Maybe men and women should be quarantined from each other until we figure this all out or at least flatten the curve.
Lock this thread already. Don't we have enough division already? Now it's men vs. women? Give it a break....99% of men aren't rapists. Why wax poetic about the 1% who are? Next topic please. Lock.
Let's triple that figure to account for unreported cases. So 375,000 rape cases per year. The population of the U.S. is 320 million people. About half are male so we are down to 160,000,000. Assume 1/3 are too young to be rapists so roughly 107,000,000 males account for 375k rapes every year.
IF each rapist only raped one woman the percentage of men that are rapists is less than .003%.
Where do you get "so many" men from .003% of men?
Is the question "WHY" more men than women are rapists it is another ball game.
Yeah, without getting out the calculator and running the numbers, these figure you're stating seem to be in the right range.

less than 1%, and yes this thread serves no purpose it's just another assault on men
I'd say there are easily just as many rape victims that never come forward as those who do, probably more. Most rapes (70%) are committed by someone the woman knows.
Just don't forget when added altogether, the rate of rape in the US is about 0.2% per year
So not sure if you consider that "many" men like in the thread title, I mean it certainly is a lot of crime but as a percentage basis it's small. Just like a certain percentage will be murderers and theives
Thanks to all the complexities, the actual number is unknowable. Still, the 0.2% figure makes good enough sense. The men that rape women tend to rack up multiple victims as well.
It's certainly not as clear-cut as murder or theft. When there is murder, there's a dead body. When there's theft, there's money and property that is missing. But without a rape kit used almost immediately after the rape, you don't really know for certain whether a rape actually occurred. Even then, the cases where a woman fully consented but cried rape anyways to punish the man for some reason happens far too often. To make matters even more complicated, some people are into rough but fully consensual sex, so bruising or signs of struggle don't necessarily prove anything either.
You have a lot of advocacy groups that are well connected with a lot of political power pushing the narrative that rape is vastly vastly vastly more common than it actually is. As a direct result, a whole lot of men have been kicked out of college, lost their jobs, lost their families and gone to prison for many years -- all over being falsely accused of rape.
I’ve been out of the closet for over 40 years. I’ve often wondered why rape is almost non-existent in the gay male community, in comparison to the straight world. Women simply are not as interested in sex. The man on man rape you might hear about, is often the straight guys locked up in prison.
Men can fight back more easily.
Many victims are young boys.
Pedophilia has little to do with sexual orientation, and more about power and control. Most victimizers are happily married straight men (read: Sandusky).
Gay men have social media: Grindr, Scruff, Growlr, Grizzly, Mistr, Jack’d, etc, etc. Getting laid is a click away, it also proves gays are numerous. Getting laid is easy, if you’re gay. Not so, if you’re a single straight guy. Tinder is not a very good substitute. Ask yourself, “how many women do you know embrace no strings attached sex? Not many, leaving a lot of sexually frustrated straight men. A lot of men get sick of emptying their wallets, wining and dining hoping for a sexuality fulfilling nightcap, which often doesn’t happen. Women are the gate keepers of the only sex straight men can get, if they want it, they must pay up. As for strength; there are plenty of men that are vulnerable, so it’s not a matter of physical strength. It’s a matter of being equals. Men want sex equally. Men and women usually don’t want sex equally.
