What about the damage done to the falsely accused? Shawn Oakman would be a millionaire in the NFL if he hadn't been falsely accused. At least he wasn't convicted or scared into taking a bad plea bargain like Banks.

As I mentioned.. its a "scary story".
Rape is awful. But I was also responding that the other side of the coin is the travesty of false accusations as with the link I mentioned regarding Brian Banks. The mother and daughter in that story by all accounts got away with a lot of money that the school district will never see returned and Banks will never see those years and lost opportunity returned.
I wish there was a solution but society doesn't seem to be interested.
Really, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the OPs premise here. The vast majority of rape crimes are by men assaulting women. The one big disparity being women teachers having sex with teenagers and adolescent males.
The latter has been going on for a lot longer than just recently. I remember guys in school that were having sex with woman teachers, but they were hardly being raped. Many teenage girls having sex with male teachers aren't being raped either.
Now, actual forcible rape is pretty much a male dominated crime. There are women who rape other women and men who rape other men as well. The latter two types of rape are very seldom reported. Theres a shame complex around them.
I knew a woman who was gang assaulted by three other women. It was brutal. And she never reported it. She told me because we were very close and she needed to tell someone. She refused to report it to the police though.
The "women" involved had told her they would just say she "wanted it " Sound familiar? Yeah, all rapists whether male or female seem to have that MO in common.
I have a serious problem with rapists. There is a reason that actual violent forced rape is one of the big 3 crimes lethal force is totally allowed preemptively with. And I would be quite happy to do so were I to see it being attempted.
But to ask the question "why are so many men (specifically) rapists seems....almost rhetorical. Most true rapists are men. But that doesn't mean there are a huge number of men out of the total population committing that crime. Not in the US anyway.
There are other countries that the numbers would probably be different for. However rape is NOT strictly co fined to male/female crime. I believe most actual true female rapists victimize other women.
And like I said, that is very rarely reported. And if it were, the numbers might just be eye opening. Just like male homosexual rape theres a huge stigma. And just like all rapists they buffalo their victims by convincing them nobody will believe they didn't "want it."
IDK, I've met some women in construction that seem very capable.
But really, tens of thousands of women are prostitutes. Why?
Because they can lie on the couch watching TV for nothing, or lie on the couch getting screwed for money. Any woman who trades her body for a dinner or anything of value is prostituting herself.
I did a little google search for "rape statistics," and didn't come up with any legitimate sources. I did read somewhere in the 400,000 per year realm (United States).
The point is.... its a double edge sword... It also opens the door for false accusations toward men.

For example, there have been a number of NFL players that have been drugged and robbed for their Rolex's and cash etc. while partying with a few gals. They could just as easily done whatever to the guy beyond just theft.
People have touched on the key point early in this thread. There are 330million people in this country and if even just 1 in 300 were to have mental issues or devolve into major drugs that lead them to do bad things....that's over a million people.
Think back to your highschool days. Did you not have at least one kid in your school that was *off* and went on to do some bad things?
In my school it was more like 1 in 100 and that's just the ones I know about.

I'm not excusing or condoning rape, but American society could do alot more to make sex and red light districts readily accessible to both men and women via legal prostitution. It's a victimless crime when legalized.
It works for canada and it would work for america. Many men and women have to go overseas just to get laid.
