Even without COVID, social media combined with click-rage sites like Yahoo "News" now empowers people to nurture the most benign everyday grievances into a national drama.

I'm sure Target sells bikinis too, but it doesn't mean they want you walking around the store in one. The issue wasn't the "Britney" shirt, it was the shirt didn't cover him. The galling part is that Target caved.

a total fruit. there is no such thing as a micro aggression. the cop asked the guy politely to follow the rules. someone probably complained. he can go somewhere else if he doesnt like it like maybe the nearest gay bar.

Understood. That was a semi-rhetorical question.

Exactly. Just silliness looking for attention.

During the incident, Timothy says that he felt “targeted,” especially since the area where he was shopping — St. Louis Park, Minn. — is “a primarily white area.”
Not sure what Timothy identifies as, but he's pretty white looking and very effeminate. Does he think he'd be less "targeted" in a primarily black area?

Other random thoughts:

- The security guard was totally polite with him, calling his behavior "vile" is ridiculous.

- The store probably does have some kind of policy against wearing "shirts" that don't actually cover anything. They threw the guard under the bus.

- When you use "microaggression" unironically, you might as well be putting a "kick me I'm stupid" sticker on your butt.
