I used to agree with this idea. I gave Andrew Yang's campaign 25 bucks....before I knew he was merely building his resume to be a CNN talking head.
But a summer of permanent protests has changed my mind. If you pay people to do nothing, they will probably sit around on the internet consuming all sorts of propaganda designed to get them angry and polarized. Not good. Then, in an effort to find meaning and purpose, will become 'activists' or 'community organizers.' We will have non-stop protests about one thing or another.

Was thinking the same thing.
And with more time, these nuts get more organized, more time to arm, more time to brainwash - voila; true domestic terrorist cells.
Then we'll have house to house conflicts to eradicate them.
This will then come true and it won't be just a meme
Something tells me that if you took away everything each American possesses today, in about 3 years time, 90% of us would have what we have right now.
People have many talents and skills. Some can sing. Others can dance. A few can toss a round ball through a hoop. Others are good at problem solving. Some folks can take a dollar and grow that into 2 dollars. But not everyone has all those skills.
Conversely some people, no matter how hard the well intended try to assist them, just can't make a good go of it. We will always need someone to dig the ditch.
Or how about this proposal. Figure out how much a person needs to better their situation and remove them from poverty. Let's say it's $50,000. Give every legal American $50,000. There, now your poverty problem is solved. Solved until the poor money managers find themselves broke again.

I have no problem with any mayor giving out free money to the people in that city.....if the city budget has that kind of excessive funds. It won't last long though, as it becomes a magnet for the lazy.
This way people can be professional protesters and never need to worry about having a job. They can Burn, Loot, Murder, and the taxpayers in the very cities they burn and loot will be paying their salaries. they can get arrested by the police they injured, and then walk back out onto the streets thru revolving door policies of Democrat DAs.. Wow, utter left-wing paradise.

I'm sure citizens will love to see they property taxes and rent go up, so they can pay millions to the crazy homeless people, and antifa thugs pooping on their city streets and burning businesses.
Who will pay for this?
Budgets are moral documents, and it’s time for the U.S. government to prioritize everyday Americans and their economic dignity. There’s a number of ways to pay for guaranteed income, from a sovereign wealth fund in which citizens benefit from shared national resources like the Alaska Permanent Fund, to bringing tax rates on the wealthiest Americans to their 20th century historical averages
Budgets are not moral documents and what right does someone in PA have to AK state funds, which goes to everyone in the state. If want AK funds, move to AK - pack warm and prepare to spend a lot for everything.
Also, the wealthiest pay just slightly less % federal than in the 50s but when take into account state income taxes that were less prevalent then, many pay as much or more now than then in total taxes. The fabled 90% tax rates in the 50s applied to almost no one, starting at the equivalent of over $2M a year in income now and lots of tax breaks that cut that rate to about half that amount.
