That's a very risky bet to give up one of the most important and influential acts of a President/Senate for an unknown and likely insignificant effect on the election. Who is going to vote for Trump if he foesn't nominate but will not if he nominates. If you support Trump then you would want him to nominate. It's his opponents that don't want him to nominate. The one thing Trump has exceled at is in knowing not to pander to what your opponents want.
Don't fool yourself. Nearly all of those wanting him to hold off are hoping Biden will win and nominate someone else. If Trump were an overwhelming favorite and leading all the polls by a wide margin then I could see some of his supporters wanting to hold off for appearance sake. But even that would be risky. Ask Hillary.

I think what we'll end up with, is a very limited and basic care plan for all U.S. citizens (including optometry and basic dental care), with the option to purchase insurance for more exotic treatments. NOBODY should be walking around with an impacted tooth because they can't afford to have it extracted. At the same time, "my" program wouldn't be paying for gold crowns, either. The question is, what happens to the people who don't purchase the additional insurance but then need dialysis or a liver transplant? What happens to the Illegals - do we send them back to their own home countries for care? Obviously, the U.S. can be considered a "closed system", and we all pay for our healthcare at the end of the day. The question is, how much is paid by the person who is sick, and how much is paid for by "the rest of us"? Bankrupting doctors shouldn't be part of the plan, we need MORE doctors, not less.
Obviously, the fact that Obamacare was a failure will be weighed into this. "Pelosi's Folly" was doomed from the start, because it was done on a fully partisan basis. We can do SO much better.
The problem I have with what we have currently, is the Government (via the U.S. taxpayer) pays for the health care of:
-Prisoners and other inmates (those in Guantanamo probably get better health care than most of us)
-All governmental employees, including Federal, State, and Local
-Military personnel
-Poor people (via Medicaid and other programs (Ceda WIC?))
-The elderly who contributed to SS (via Medicare)
-Those collecting Obamacare subsidies
-Politicians (and Congress WOULD be subject to the new system, the same as the rest of us)
Pretty much the only people the taxpayer ISN'T paying the healthcare costs for, are the taxpayers themselves, who get their healthcare through their workplaces, creating a lopsided system and actually hurts the creation of new jobs - it's effectively a subsidy for outsourcing jobs to foreign countries.
Anyhoo, don't want to hijack the thread - this would certainly be an "olive branch" Trump could throw to the Dems to keep the rioting to a minimum after the confirmation of his Supreme Court nominee, his own re-election, and possible gains in both the House and Senate. Nothing I'd like to see better than a "Minority Representative Pelosi" again, but like Ginsburg: "Fervently wish in one hand and s**t in the other,, and see which one fills up first".
Nominate ASAP. Confirm ASAP.
DemoKKKrats. are Nazis today, and not to be trusted. Habitual, pathological liars as well.
Unfortunately I believe Trump needs to get that Ginsburg seat filled immediately.
I have to laugh incredulously at this mandate from the Dems to obey Ginsberg's alleged final wish. Chuckie Shumer even has a poster with her face and that alleged statement she made on her death bed.../QUOTE]
Interesting that in threatening to pack the court they would be going against her stated wishes, too. Highly selective honoring of her wishes there, almost as if the impulse were guided by nakedly partisan motivations.
You know what? I thought of that same thing today. they are hypocrites because yes, they want to obey her wish (which is not proven as true) on the thing that will benefit them, but not the thing we saw and heart with our very own eyes and ears.
Even though I disliked Ginsberg, I do not think she flip flopped on something like that.
She hated the U.S. Constitution and thought government should have more affirmative rights over the people and not be so restricted.
So Ginsburg was wrong in 1976 for leading the way in taking away the right of the state of Oklahoma to decide it was best for society to allow 18 year old women to buy beer, but make guys wait to buy beer until they were 21?
It's a photo of a bunch of women who likely didn't get laid that night. It also looks like at least two of those women are packing franks and beans, although I won't be checking myself.
I think you rabid thoughtless conservatives will begin to rue the day that you were conned by lying Don and crooked evil he-can't-be-human Mitch and all their weak spineless cronies.
They will produce a country that no one will want to live in with-
- dirty air and water - contributing to a dying planet
- a role-back of civil rights - why does anyone think that only white males deserve to have most of the breaks and power in this world? Guess what white males? You're NOT superior. To anyone. You are equal in your humanness but that's all. Most likely you are an average person, but that's good enough. Nothing makes you inherently better than anyone else. Government power should represent the people---which includes women, people of all races, ethnicities, sexualities, genders, and backgrounds
-fewer worker's rights and more exploitation---please note, unless you are a member of the crook-silver-spoon artistrocacy or a crook wall st mogul, wake up, you're a worker
-increased deaths from botched abortions by desperate single young women and rape victims -- this will be someone's daughter and /or grandaughter (maybe yours) or a good married friend of yours who is just sick and tired of having children - droves of unwanted neglected children to add too the droves of unwanted neglected children already in the U.S.
-most likely a massive decrease or even elimination of Social Security -- what makes you think Trump or Mitch will work to save it? Trump has lied saying he will not do that but he has lied about virtually EVERYTHING (How are those wall payments by Mexico going?) He's working right now to eliminate healthcare for people with pre-existing conditions which is most of the population.
-unequal access to healthcare resulting in much suffering
WHY would you even want to live in such a country?
