Obama had the right to name Scalia’s replacement. That was denied to him.
All bets are off in the next Congress if McConnell’s hypocrisy prevails on this.
No it wasn't. It's the President's role to nominate a justice and Obama nominated a justice. He wasn't prevented from doing anything. The Constitution doesn't empower the President to confirm a justice only to nominate a justice. It is the Senate's role to confirm a justice and the Senate chose not to confirm the justice that was nominated.
And if you knew what McConnell actually said you would understand there is no hypocrisy.
If The Republicans try replacing her after what they did with Garland.....heres the reality.
The next Democratic president will absolutely 100% stack the courts....
If Republicans view this as a chance to rat-bleep the SC the Democrats will absolutely take off the gloves. And 100% the Republicans are going to do this despite the insane hypocrisy of it all. Be careful what you ask for.
We owe Ruth Ginsburg a debt of gratitude. She could have stepped down or retired any time during Barack Obama's presidency, and given him a chance to put another far-left liberal on the bench for the next 30 years or more.
But she didn't. Instead she kept her seat until the middle of President Trump's presidency, and now he will name her successor. Hopefully somebody like Scalia, Thomas, Kavanaugh, or Alito. The country will be much better off when he does, leaning much further toward constitutional adherence for the first time in a long time.
Thank you, Justice Ginsburg. You've done your country a great service.
If Democrats control the White House and Congress they can. There is nothing in the constitution that can stop them.
LOL. Talk about desperation and grasping at straws.
