If the Republicans in the senate are in a rush to get a new SCOTUS nominee approved, that means they have significant fears that DJT will lose the election. Because it's pure hypocrisy on their part not to grant this to the next term President.

Why would that be likely?

If anything naming another conservative SCOTUS justice would be the final nail in the coffin that is the far left agenda causing the wind to be knocked out of their sails. They'd be MUCH more likely to be depressed than anything because at that point their vote wouldn't matter anymore. Their unconstitutional plans would have no chance to make it past SCOTUS no matter who was in office.

At the same time, yet another victory would energize the Trump base and moderates turned off by the violence, negativity, and nastiness of the left.

In politics anything can happen, that much is a fact. Why take a chances that something might or might not happen.

Democrats were too complacent in 2016. They didn't care for Hilary and were not motivated to vote. They didn't really consider the long-term impact of their actions. Believe me, their eyes are wide open now and they're extremely motivated.

I still do not buy Trump will lose. He is going to win GA FL IA OH NC. If he holds two of PA AZ NH WI MI MN he wins and the reliable polls who got 2016 close vs trash like Quinnipiac and Monmouth have shown its either a dead heat in those states or Trump is even ahead.

I hope this is true. This Supreme Court vacancy may just be the holy grail for Trump’s Presidency.

Well, besides building the Mexican Border Wall.

The Trump base is shrinking, if you haven't gotten the memo. Moderates are extremely turned off by him. While his far right base is galvanized, they alone didn't elect him in 2016. As many moderates peel off from the Republican party (or are turned off in voting for them), they won't win another major election.

Don't fool yourself that this can't change again soon in the courts either. Some of the Republican justices are old. When Biden wins, you honestly don't think he'll replace them with a liberal? You're completely disillusioned.

Meh, the Supreme Court is more important than a few senate seats and the Presidency as far as I'm concerned. It will shape the values of the U.S. for decades to come.
And no. Dems aren't going to be galvanized by this any more than they already are since it's already their lives goal to rid themselves of Trump.

Yeah, I don't see the GOP being able to appoint a new justice before January. Dems will delay just like Repubs did in 2016.

How? Republicans run the Senate.
