The nature of the Supreme Court, down to the number of Judges, is political in ways that aren't privy to the Public. What is seen is the tip of those politics, with a volcano sized iceberg underneath the water.
Even if she is replaced before the election, Democrats WILL add seats to the Supreme Court if they take over the Senate. The constitution leaves the size of the Supreme Court up to congress.
Ok then then the Dems will add seats there is no where in the constitution that says they can't. It will open the floodgates.

It would be a heavy lift sure and not at all certain, but theoretically possible if Biden wins and Ds take the Senate.
If Trump wins the election though, then clearly he would have the undisputed right to name the replacement.
By law he does have the right. That doesn’t mean that the press and the congressional Democrats will not use every tool available to them to fight against confirmation including microscope analysis of the candidate’s entire life for character assassination. Every court ruling, every action as a lawyer, every social media post will all be examined and picked apart. It’s their standard operational procedure.
