Yep, the Republicans are hypocrites. Just like the Democrats who wanted to ram through a new SCOTUS justice at the end of Obama's second term. In both cases, it is just a matter of political expediency.
OP -- If you are waiting for a politician in any party who is not a hypocrite, not only are in for a very long wait (like forever) but you are impossibly naive.
Obama nominated Garland in March. That was hardly the end of his second term.

Oh it's a given that neither side has any principles on this issue. Ever since the Supreme Court became a thing, the process of nominating and confirming has been loaded to the gills with slimy partisan bickering.
The only rules that exist: If you can do a thing, you do that thing. If the opposition does something and you can't stop them, throw a huge huge tantrum over it.

The Senate has, on average, taken 23 days to vote on all Supreme Court nominees for the entire history of the Supreme Court. Why?
One of the tasks required of the President by the Constitution, is to nominate Justices when there's a vacancy.
And one of the tasks required of the Senate by the Constitution, is to provide "advice and consent" of those nominees. Meaning, formally lay out its acceptance or rejection of the nominee.
Is there some law saying the President must stop being President, and Senators must stop being Senators, when an election is approaching?
Have the people elected a bunch of Republican Hypocrites? Liars? Opportunists?

Please keep in mind, a Supreme court justice has not been selected in an election year for over 80 years, even though we have had both Democrats and Republicans in office. There is a reason why this has not been done up until this point and some of the Republicans in the video have touched on this.

This is so funny like after having our shops burned and looted and having to move to escape the mobs we want a rep from the responsible party to sit on the Supreme Court ?

The answer is why independents like myself are concerned about an expansion or longstanding overly biased representation of any of the 3 branches of government, regardless of it is done by (or largely held by) any political affiliation.
The answer to that question is why statements (and thoughts) like below are very concerning:

There is a reason why what the President and some Republicans are saying they want to do has not been done in 80 years, even though both political affiliations have been in office during that time.

Republicans invoked the "Biden Rule". Because the could. You'd be foolish to believe that Democrats would do otherwise.
Mitch McConnell doesn’t care what the majority of Americans think about anything.
This is the rare mess we can’t blame on Trump. He has no say in what justices are chosen. He gets a list from the Federalist Society and does what Mitch tells him to do.

We can blame Democrats for destroying the integrity of the process, however. After the Kavanaugh debacle, I hope McConnell skips having a hearing. There is no reason to give the Democrats a platform to smear and destroy whoever gets nominated.
Trump is not well-liked by many Republican voters, who hold their nose and vote for him anyway because the issue that motivates them is the make up of the courts. Once a Conservative justice is seated, they may not be so motivated to vote for Trump any longer. If he holds out making a nomination, then more voters may be motivated to go to the polls to ensure the court moves right, and in the process give Trump a second term. Either way Trump jumps, he’s taking a risk.
