Nonsense. We don't live in ancient Athens which had a pure democracy. We live in a republic. We choose our representatives including the president according to our Constitution. We don't choose how we do our business by flawed polls. If you don't like how Senators vote on issues that are not from your state, that's too bad. You don't get to tell them how to vote and what to do. In a republic, sometimes the majority don't get their way regardless of the issue as Senators and Congress are allowed to vote their conscience, not what the mob wants. Sometimes with a Constitution, the mob doesn't get their way. You might think about putting on your big boy pants and stop crying about it.

I'm racking my brain and I simply don't recall any of the Republicans caring about "contested elections" in 2016. Could it be...situational ethics?

Exactly. Maybe he should slow down and not get their so quickly because he misses all the important points. These people want government to tell them what to do and how to live and mob rule.

Let him do it. He likes things in his own way and the GOP kowtows to him. Then its up to the voters. If the dem's sweep the government in DC, a big if, then we should expect them to pack the court.

Trump has shown his distain for tradition and moderation and his party has supported him. What held back FDR's court packing effort is gone. If the court is packed, the GOP should thank Trump and those who supported his new vision of the US.

Which goes back to what McConnell said about Reid regretting changing the rules. If Dems pack the court, the Reps will do the same when they are reelected and they will be. That's the fatal flaw with your thinking but you obviously haven't learned anything about playing by those tactics. Then you'll come back and scream bloody murder about how Reps fight unfairly. Spoiled democrats change the rules so they can win, and then regret it when the coin is flipped.

Attempted what, they had no control of the senate and were powerless. Their statements were meaningless since Garland never got out of committee. There is no shortage of hypocrisy on either side but their reaction this year as it was in 2016 is in reaction to the republicans who suddenly developed a new rule in reaction to Scalia's death.

will Dems refuse to meet with the nominee? Normally they make a visit to many Senators offices for a meet and greet. Should they shun the female Trump nominates?

Yes, you are responsible for what the people you support do in office.
