This happened a while ago, but the story just getting out. Apparently all they going to do is sail up close to some alleged chinese installation and take a peek. They pretending to be a yacht crew delivering a vessel to Japan. Seriously, is that all it takes? They just pretend to be some civilians, and get as close as they can. If they get stopped by guards well, then yes, the chinese have an installations there.
One of the operatives is a Merchant Marine grad. Is that even military? If they really wanted to know if installation there, just sail a warship and see what response they get. If they run into a chinese warship then yeh, the chinese are up to something fishy. If govt wants to know more details, wont they have to send in more highly trained, and heavily armed team?
The Op goes sideways because of a storm.
Quote from article:
"There was a lot of pressure to do ops,” a former CIA operations officer explained. “They just didn’t have to die. They did a mission that you didn’t have to do, and Bob was such a bad leader. A lot of officers blame Kandra for the **** that happened in the Pacific.”
His blemishes and mistakes were glossed over because he was senior intelligence staff when he ran the Special Activities Division, according to the former operations officer."
