RBG could have stepped down in 2016 but noooo Dems thought they had it in the bag with Hillary.

John McCain was another one that over-stayed his position. Dude you did enough. Retire and enjoy your last day.

People LOVE the power, prestige, etc of their position.

Hypocrites of the first degree - that describes them perfectly. All the "reasons" they've given here to justify themselves just makes it more clear what a bunch of hypocrites they are.

Hmm....remember Mitch's little made-up rule? That one about not confirming a Supreme Court justice in an election year?

In nearly four years he has only done a few miles and Mexico didn't pay a cent.

Correct. It isn't like Trump is the first president to fill the position in an election year. It is done all the time and not something unusual. The left doesn't seem to get that.

ATX Wahine, gg, and many others here suffer from 2016 amnesia.

Oh they get it just fine. It was Mitch who said it shouldn't be done in 2016 because it was an election year.
It was Lindsey Graham who said "remember this & you can use my words against me".
Their hypocrisy is showing but, I say let em do it.
What comes around goes around & there is enough hypocrisy to go around.

Our country is going to be seriously more broken after this. "What is the big deal? We always fill a SC justice seat in an election year. Oh, except that last time but it doesn't count. And you can assume that if it happens again when a Democrat is President, you'l lose that seat too."

That is simply broken.

That's exactly it. It IS coming around and now they don't like it. Which is so dumb considering that worst case scenario, they don't fill the seat, Trump loses and the Senate confirms a Biden nominee and the court is back to 5-4. Why upturn the entire system?
