Everyone knows the deaths will climb some with kids going back to school, but that also will level off after a period of time. Now we need to concentrate on convincing everyone to get their flu shots. As for kids spreading COVID, if they don't get it they are no apt to spread it.

Perhaps we should have another SARS-STOCK concert with 500,000 people rocking out together to fight this virus.

Pretty close to it. The average life expectancy in the US is just over 78 and the average age of COVID-19 deaths moves around a bit over time, but is always in the high 70's to low 80's.

People under 50 have basically no chance of dying from COVID-19 unless they already have one foot in the grave.

The last administration could have stockpiled PPE for now, too, but they didn't...right?

Truth is, most western nations are suffering horribly, with a wide variety of policy and leadership responses - resulting in roughly the same outcome, although some moved faster than others - net result is the pretty much awful.

So I guess the leaders in Italy, France, Spain, UK - are all as incompetent as DJT.

Yup. And there have been a number of people who thought this is a "hoax" who have been killed as well (and they are not "old" people either).

The bottom line is, this virus is unpredictable. If you look at pure numbers, the risk is very low outside of the elderly, but the fact that some of the "young and healthy" have died from it, should make everyone not want to chance getting it at all.

The silver lining about getting it "now" (approximately 6 months post-pandemic commencement) is that there are more treatments and hospital protocols in place, so "survival" is much better than 6 months ago and will likely continue to get much better as more treatments are available. So while death rates in the future may still be low, there are also potential long-term effects to think about. Plus, some people who get this will die.

No, it's incredibly predictable. Finding people who won the lottery is easier than finding legitimately "young and healthy" people who have died from COVID....now sure you can find people who were called "young and healthy".....then we find out later that they had stage 4 lung cancer or serious asthma or undiagnosed heart disease.

And that is just generally speaking. If a healthy person catches the virus, the mortality rates drop significantly lower.

Yeah.....heart disease is contagious and can be easily passed from person-to-person, right?

Plus there are studies that show children are not only resistant to catching the virus, but their immune systems attack it so aggressively that they rarely build up much of a viral load, and thus do not spread the virus.
