CNBC is running an article saying that 9 states are considering raising taxes on the rich. Is this good public policy? Is it fair? If it is fair, how much is fair and how much is too much and unfair?

The question is far too broad.

In general I oppose most tax rate increases. I DO favor rules that limit or even eliminate the ability of the .01% to classify their income as anything other than actual income at whatever rate that might be.

If you think these tax increases are aimed at the .01% I have a bridge to sell you. Reminds me of the time I was talking to my ultra liberal nephew and he said the 1% makes $3m. Where's the eyeroll emoji????

John Kerry tried to sell us this bridge back when he was running. Basically a big tax increase for Singles making $200K of Married filing $250K in order to help subsidize goods and services for nearly half the US population that pay no Federal income tax at all.

In the higher cost of living areas 200-250 allows a family to live relatively modestly.
