The biggest zinger to me was when Trump asked Biden to name one police group who supported him and Biden had nothing. Trump attacked Hunter Biden's various business dealings and Biden had nothing.
Chrissy jumped in like a good puppet and stopped the space of silence that would have occurred while waiting for Biden to name ONE law enforcement group.
Wallace set up Trump with a lot of easy layups against Biden with the way he phrased a lot of the questions, but Trump never once capitalized. He came off as petulant, argumentative and completely unhinged. Biden had his typical speaking ticks, but under the barrage of insults, attacks and constant interruptions, was still able to pretty clearly show he was the only adult in the room.
Also, the big story was Trump's refusal to condemn white supremacists and instead telling them to "stand by" was jaw dropping even for a man who has stoked racism since he opened his campaign in 2015.
Wallace was terrible as a moderator, but mostly because he seemed feckless against Trump's nonsense. Overall, it was an incredible embarrassment for a US president and for America.
The Proud Boys aren’t a white supremacist group. And why wasn’t Biden asked to condemn BLM? The Proud Boys have not destroyed one building or harmed anyone. The BLM protests have caused billions of dollars in damages around the country and some leaders have said looting is reparations and property damage isn’t that important because they have insurance. Why wasn’t Biden called out on that?
As others point out the news headlines will be, "Trump didn't condemn white supremacists."
President Trump has in fact condemned white supremacists in the past, and quite explicitly so.
This was his statement three years ago after the Charlottesville violence:
So he didn't do it explicitly in this debate, who cares.
What I do care about is that Biden absolutely ignored Chris's question about BLM, and misrepresented who was causing the violence.
But if you remember -- this statement was issued because he didn't denounce or condemn white supremacists.
So then this statement -- which is not Trump's words at all. We all know that. He NEVER talks like that. Not a criticism -- but those are clearly not his words.
AND tonight he did not clearly condemn white supremacists. I'm sure there will be a carefully crafted statement issued tomorrow to address it....but all he had to say was of course I condemn white supremacists and all hate group.
Biden lied about calling the military stupid bastards... it is on tape and Biden denied he said it.. he said it.
Biden also lied about Trump saying the soldiers were suckers and losers. no one heard him saying it. No one. It is a lie. It is made up. Nothing on tape, No memory of anyone hearing it.
no Biden did not lie I believe Biden when he says that Trump said that about the soldiers.
The president of the United States refused to condemn white supremacists.
Maybe because the term has morphed to better fit the needs of the Left. ie: Do you condemn yellow supremacists?
