One told the other to "shut up" in the first five minutes of the debate. I was listening, not watching, and I thought it was Biden. Was I mistaken?

Even if that didn't happen, were two old men constantly interrupting each other and running on tangents? Did that seem like a coherent debate to people in the USA?

Exactly how low are standards in the USA that they allow a couple of doddering old fools to make a mockery of the country?

Are there no real men?

I don't know if Trump pre-planned his behavior to successfully avoid having to give a substantive answer to tough questions, but it clearly went too far, he appeared like a madman. IMO he had decided to adopt a really aggressive strategy, but could not control himself once he was on the stage, because it is hard to believe that he and his team really thought that the way he acted was going to be a winning strategy.
I don't think "his team" considered that, likely knowing he is a loose cannon. This was not a plan, but about what was brewing inside of D. T. for days that he was wanting to unload. Along with other times publicly, it is all about his releasing anger, resentment, defensiveness and making misrepresentations. He doesn't understand debating or anything else involved.

Those being rational apparently try to find a reason behind his behavior, thinking that everyone functions the same. What needs to be understood is that this guy is abnormal and always was, only not really known other than "a personality, a tycoon". As with the rest of his life, he just hid behind the persona that was exhibited over time and got opportunities. He hadn't known what it would take to be a president, he just wanted the glory..but his flawed personality would negatively affect any environment he would be in.

It has all been a giant mistake, his attempting to portray a president and needs to end.

If it had been any other mature, experienced politician along with Biden, it would have been an actual debate worth watching. If it ever involves adults who function properly, it would have been a real, interactive debate. Donald created a negative situation with his behavior as usual, causing things to not go properly. He does not know how to conduct himself.

Biden could barely get a word in and was unable to stay focused with all the attacks and interferences. This was extremely weird and has been deemed the worst debate ever.

That is not a scientific poll - that is a survey where anyone can participate. Not measured and scientific.

There simply cannot be another debate like this:

suggestions:
-kill switches
- mikes that are deactivated when the opponents mike is in use
- refusal to answer a question - opponent gets an extra minute of talking time
- yelling at the moderator - you lose your chance at a question - opponent gets the next two questions
-bullying opponent - opponent gets extra minutes or extra questions
- if it continues unabated like tonight, the moderator stands up and says "if this continues like this and you do not start operating under the rules of your campaigns agreed to, you will be leaving"
- get an army drill sargant to moderate lol

The next transgression - moderator stands up, says "this debate is over. "

Should last for maybe 12 minutes unless they get some Valium into the rampaging Don.

If only one opponent is the one largely not honoring debate rules, like tonight, he is kicked off the stage and the remaining speaker gets to answer the entire set of question and get many minutes of valuable air time. That should be the kicker that might make Trump behave.

There is simply no reason to have two more debates like this. Nothing of value was revealed. Undecided voters did not get to hear Biden make his case. It was a trainwreck and a humiliating display of weakness, mental illness, arrogance and bullying by tRump and humiliated our country in front of the entire developed world---it was indeed scary at some points.

Epic fail.
What are you talking about? People know of its origin. No one said Donald created it, but has contributed to its increase in ways, having not helped at all to deter the growth of. Epic fail, indeed.

Trump was his usual self. He bullied and lied his way through the debate to ignore and distract from his horrific record and distract from having to actually discuss any policy. Of course, mindless people like that, while thinking people are turned off. Not a very good way to appeal to independent moderates, who want to hear actual policy.

The point of the debate is to sway voters your way.

Trump supporters may delight in the bullying, lies, and constant ranting on about Hunter Biden to the point that Wallace told him to cut it out. But what undecided sand voter was swayed by Trump?

Biden was coherent, calm, and clearly has given some thought and come up with some strategies to get us out of this mess.

Trump highlights:

“Don’t ever use the word ‘smart’ with me,”

You got it.

“This is going to be fraud like you’ve never seen,”

All righty then.

“Proud Boys, stand back and stand by! But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about antifa and the left.”

That dog whistle is within the range of human hearing.

Why is it that every time someone mentions Biden, they always preface it with "well/but at least"?

The same thing had occurred before with Clinton, as she was later criticized for not fully expressing her selling points, when ultimately, HE had derailed that also and was a distraction for anyone he was on stage with, as with other republican nominees then. It is outlandish, this guy's inabilities, personality issues and rotten behavior. It's time for it to end.
