I didn't watch the linked video (I just have a policy of not clicking on links in the forum for security reasons) but did look up the NPR article summarizing an interview with Osterweil regarding her book, In Defense of Looting. Personally I think many of the underlying complaints fueling the riots and looting are justified and need to be addressed. But the rightfulness of a cause does not justify looting in support of it. I have only read the NPR summary of her interview, not her book, but she seems to underplay the power of nonviolent protest. The violence and looting detracts from the underlying message. Her argumebnt seems to essentially be that looting is a redistrubution of wealth that society should be doing anyway. Forcing the implementation of a policy before society has adopted it more widely - assuming for the sake of argument that is actually what the looters are doing, a point that I don't concede - will only create barriers in advocating for those very changes.
No. It is not.
It is NOT o.k. to destroy and steal property that belongs to your fellow man because you're pissed off at the Government.
What a bunch of gormless weasels.
My liberal arts professor said committing acts of Terrorism was permissible in some cases and he said he would partake in it if it came to it. If parents really knew what students were really taught in these classes, I think parents would not pay a cent more. It's appalling.
Makes you wonder why Republicans support public education so much, now doesn't it?
$60 billion from your pocket to Lysol Man's coffers in this fiscal year alone.
Reap what you sow, statists.
They do? Thought a lot of em where talking charter schools?
