Both party congressional leaders failed miserably to protect the capitol. They not only failed to protect the building but they apparently left state secrets in documents and laptops sitting unsecured in their offices. These things should always be handled in a secure manner and protocols in place to make sure they dont fall into the wrong hands.

Its obvious both parties want to simply blame Trump. But they failed in their duty to protect the capitol building. They failed to organize a proper police response. They failed to take proper precautions for a large crowd event. The lack of security is shocking.

What would have happened if the rioters had guns or explosives? Sacking the capitol seemed too easy. Whats more is that this happened earlier this year with BLM albeit different building were hit. They have failed twice this year to protect the center of American government.

What will happen if ISIS or Al Qaeda realize how easy it is to sack the American capital?

If they worked for a private business, they would be fired. One wonders why they would lock their offices, as none in that group are that popular.

Well, hopefully this was a wake up call for all. It would be absolutely disastrous for our nation to have some of these mass purges various people are advocating. We’ve had enough damage done, let’s start working on mending. If they still need ousted that is the purpose of elections.

Let's arrest and prosecute Trump for sedition first. Then we'll see where it goes from there.

However, I do agree there needed to be proper police presence before this ever started.

Oh cool, another "it's not Trump's fault" thread.

How about we focus on arresting and trying the MAGA Trump supporters who did the damage then move on to worrying about the other issues.

At the end of the day the Trump supporters committed the breaking, entering, theft and destruction. The politicians were only guilty of doing something stupid.

Be careful what you ask for, I can point to more direct sedition by the left during our summer riots than what Trump did.

They were remiss in somehow thinking that the president would never direct a coup attempt against the US capitol building, that's for sure and that capitol police would be part of the plot.

Maybe we can forgive them though as the Trump insurrection was the first time the Capitol had been occupied by enemy forces since the British.

Something in the oath Congressmen and Senators take that make them responsible for building security? If so, please point it out.

Is this the RW's new plan for working people everywhere, make the workers responsible for their employer's security, wouldn't want make companies and corporations responsible for too much, eh?
