Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law on Saturday requiring California to house transgender inmates in prisons based on their gender identity — but only if the state does not have “management or security concerns.”
The law says the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation cannot deny those requests solely because of inmates' anatomy, sexual orientation or “a factor present” among other inmates at the facility.
That's just asking for a lawsuit from an abused prisoner... and it probably won't take long. The law SHOULD say you forfeit some degree of 'choice' if you find yourself incarcerated at that level.

I disagree with that. if ones gender identity is legally recognized in regards to everything else in society, then it should also be recognized by the courts and law enforcement.
Besides that, if they place a man who identifies as a woman, into a womens prison, (if he was just being dishonest, that will become apparent immediately)

The better solution, especially for a state as populated as California, is a transgender prison. Smaller states should have at least a wing in one facility for males transgenders and one for females transgenders.
