One thing I have noticed about McDonald's locations, they always seem to stay in business. Trump would be one of the few people who could run a McDonald's franchise into the ground.

What are you credentials for claiming its highly questionable?

I think the term you might be looking for was aggressive deduction and perhaps one the IRS hadn't seen on that scale before. Of course, they are going to try to take it back.

But, clearly they weren't trying to take it all back or this audit wouldn't have gone on for as long as it has.

CPA's and individuals take aggressive deductions ALL THE TIME. That's one of the reasons we have a tax court.

If the IRS was confident the deduction is illegal, they would have just disallowed it, sent him a bill and put it in their collection stream if he didn't pay after exhausting his appeal rights.

Sounds like he's got a good accountant. Feel free to continue impotently screeching though, that kind of thing really is effective I hear.
I can understand why you do not want to explain what we Americans have to learn from the revelations in this excellent piece of journalism. You dug the hole, though, dear, as you lectured US citizens about learning from the news. Here is a lesson.

First rule of holes: "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging".

Keep paying your taxes. People like trump caused our national debt to skyrocket. Sign up your children and grandchildren to pay off the debt so trump and his family can live off tax paying middleclass workers.

In all honesty, it takes a special kind of businessman to bankrupt a casino.

Looks like Trump played the convoluted tax system as intended by the establishment that created it. Good for him.

I've taken it in the shorts for the last 3 years.... Maybe there is something I can learn from this.

And before you spout off about Swedes love to pay taxes, research. Wealthy swedes also shelter their wealth and the poor pay taxes. In America, we just redistribute wealth.
