Wait? Weren't we just told a few weeks ago that there was nothing but zombies and degenerates living in the cities and the refuge of the 'burbs needed to be kept safe from all the mayhem?
Yeah, that's the first thing that came to mind when I read the OP, too. It's the generational lament of the ages. And as someone who lives in jeans, you will never get me back into a dress.
What I will agree with the OP on is the high rate of obesity in this country. This is a problem that really needs to be addressed. Michelle Obama had it right.
Agree. Except Michelle talked the talk, but didn't walk the walk.
Far too simple. My second job is retail appliance sales.
1) Ive had people in expensive suits not get credit.
2) Ive had people who smelled homeless get $10,000 credit lines
3) Ive had human freaks turn out to be the nicest people in the world.
4) Ive had impeccably dressed people freak out making insane demands on top of rude.
5) I watched a well dressed woman make rude demands of a manager for a half hour straight.
Ive also seen the opposite. I had a nice dressed lady come in looking for a laundry set. I found an INSANE deal for which I would have made nothing. I told her flat out she needed to get her credit card out this instant because the deal was beyond crazy good. (like 550 bucks per unit for units with a 1000 dollar each street price, never mind full "list") She knew I worked on commission and asked me if I would make anything. I told her No but the deal was the deal of the year and I give advice as I would ask those selling to my parents to give. After finishing ringing her she thanked me and asked me to shake her hand. There was a $20 in her hand. She winked and said, "Ive been there." and walked off.
If you ever need proof that we are de-civilizing and de-evolving, look at photos of people from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and compare them to the people at your local Wal-Mart. We have become savages. There is no dignity left in this society. Instead, we're a nation of tattooed, obese savages, clowns, and overgrown babies.
We have become so totally infantilized and debased as a culture that it will likely take several generations to completely reverse this.
Easy there old timer your going to strain something

Some of us still do have honor, dignity and virtue. You have to look further to find it these days, but it's there.

I guy I’ve known since I was a kid in the 60s looks like a homeless dude and drives a beater, and he always has. This guy had well over $100 million in commercial real estate equity. He’s a Stanford grad, and I doubt he donates anything to the university. His kids got jobs in Europe after graduate school....they wanted to be as far away from him as possible. He does love his wife though of 60+ years, he’s very loving and otherwise good to her...anything she wants...and she deserves that. His wife is one of the nicest, sweetest people I’ve ever known.
When I lived in Newport Beach, I got home one day and I saw my female neighbor talking to this ratty looking guy and I wondered what was up. I walked over and she introduced me to him. The guy was her dad. We chatted and then said goodbye and her dad got in his new highly customized S-class Benz and drove off. I knew that my neighbor’s parent’s house was one of the largest estates in Harbor Ridge, and that that was where she grew up. Her roommate (who she grew up with and was a sorority sister of at USC) had mentioned in the past that the dad was a bit eccentric, but she had never elaborated on that.
You never know......
And if you’re just generally nice to people, you don’t have to worry about it too much.
Poor people can't afford cocaine, which is why the rich are thin.
A fact which some refuse to acknowledge.
