There's a lot of irony watching 'conservatives' (really trump supporters should be rebranded as authoritarians, but that is another topic) complain about cash bail. It is a bad system!
Shooting two police officers, sitting in their vehicle, unprovoked- this guy should receive the death penalty. He has a criminal background and doesn't deserve another chance of ever walking free again. ( imo)
The bail was set high enough its unlikely it will be paid, but yeah I agree, shooting a police officer should automatically disqualify you from bail.
This story isn't political or controversial. There is video evidence. The criminal was wanted and had a long rap sheet. He has been arrested and will stand trial.
Errr.....I think the bail situation is controversial.
Imagine if this were a rich person that could produce the 600k cash?
What if instead they just pulled up to a random car at the McD's drive-thru and shot both occupants.
You want that person getting bail? Oh heck no.
P.S. He also shot the person he carjacked so that's (at least) three people he shot.

Not following your point.
Bail denial for extreme flight risks or dangers to the community are long-standing non-partisan principles found across the US.
How exactly is this "ironic"?
