With people moving out of CA by the thousands (just ask UHaul) who will be left to pay taxes for these reparations? If someone identifies as a black person, will they get the cash?
I can have a rough day, but it will never be a bad one, because I remind myself, every. single. day. since March 2, 2020 (when I got into my car and left), that I'm no longer in CA.
Every single night, when it's nice and cool, and I can throw open the french doors to my screened in patio, I'm grateful and happy, because I no longer live in CA.
Every day that I'm on the roads, even though some of the drivers here are stupid, I'm grateful and happy, because I no longer live in CA.
Every time I go to the gas station, I'm grateful and happy that I no longer live in CA.
Every time I go to the grocery store, I'm grateful and happy that I no longer live in CA.
Every time I walk outside, without the risk of snitching or fines, I'm grateful and happy that I no longer live in CA.
Every time I walk around with no mask on, as I have done this entire time, I'm grateful and happy that I no longer live in CA.
Every single day - I'm grateful and happy. And that's not exaggerating, I'm literally grateful and happy because I say to myself, every single day, at least once a day, "I'm not in CA anymore!" and I'm immediately happy with everything.
This is just one more thing to add to the HUGE list explaining why I am grateful and happy that I no longer live in CA.
Absolute worst state I've ever lived in. They ruined it. It used to be a great place to live. It is now a dumpster fire.
The concept of "slavery reparations" is a hot topic among liberals and those hoping to get a big payout for the color of their skin.
The reason slavery was made illegal is the recognition that NO ONE should be forced, against their will, to work for the pleasure of another.
So is forcing US tax payers, who never owned slaves, who are compelled via force to work for the pleasure of the descendents of slaves not slavery in of itself?
Also, in legal cases, one must demonstrate damages that have occurred as a result of said action. The incomes and standard of living among American blacks, whose ancestors were taken from East Africa, is much higher than those of citizens who remained in East Africa.
So there are no "damages" from slavery, as the descendents of slaves are much better off financially. As there are no financial damages, how can, or how should there be, any payments?
