and thats a absolute comparison, not a relative % of population comparison.
The death count of the flu is overall greater than WWII as well.

Obviously WWII was exponentially worse with regard to human suffering and hardship.

If you're going to frame it in terms of the economy, though, a pandemic may well be worse than a war. Lots of situations are worse than wars, when it comes to the economies of developed nations, especially if you're not the nation being actively invaded. Wars offer huge opportunities for profit of all sorts.

Everything was rationed during WW2, Meat, sugar, butter, eggs, tires, nylon stockings (irrelevant now) I could go on. Hershey bars. Are we really wanting for anything material?

I had to dip into my toilet paper reserve.

And yeah financial impact wise? This is nothing. We were throwing men and ships into it back then. I worry about economic side effects and the increase in military interactions as a result. But right now were ok.

Life wise....We might be close by the end of this. More older then younger. But lives lost nonetheless. And as long as vaccines show up I think we wont get close to the same loss population wise. Lots of pretty rough ends. I know thats not how I would prefer to go.

But we will also have a lot more with scarring internally and some other damage we're still trying to figure out. It looks like this has some longer effects then we would like.

This is going to be a part of history thats taught. And I know theres going to be some "how could they be so stupid" comments. The answer of course is that its complicated. The information we are able to receive can be influenced in a lot of ways.

Well at least you could go to the movies, visit your family, eat out, go to a ball game with WW2. Escapes from reality. But WW2 dragged on for years with no end at sight for a long time.

They were able to handle it because they had no choice--no safe spaces; no fidget spinners. We're softer than hell today.
Agreed

Covid-19 is worse for America. WW2 really do nothing to Americans. I gave people jobs in fact. Young men lined up to sign up so they can go prove their manhood.

America became world super power thanks to WW2. I say WW2 good for America.

How braindead does one have to be to think COVID should even be talked about in the same sentence as WW2?
