Looking at the death rate per 100,000, of the 10 that had the highest rates, plus New York City and Washington DC, eight of them (NYC, DC, plus six states) were blue in the last election. So it's not just us right-wing yahoos who aren't wearing masks, apparently. Conversely, of the 10 states (not including territories) with the lowest rates, six of them went red.

I'm not defending Trump's disparagement of masks, and I do not follow his lead in this instance. (In other words, I'm diligent about wearing a mask.) But still, he is only part of the problem.

Very true. Boston has the highest density of colleges and univrersities in the country and this seems to be the most likely cause of the city's recent increase after getting it pretty well under control. The kids just won't stop having crowded parties with lots of people in close proximity.

No doubt. It isn't about politics. It's about science. The problem is that Trump is the leader and many watching him will follow the leader's lead. When he disparages mask wearing, he is setting a life/death example. So Trump is part of the major blame along with his henchmen.

Peoples minds are already made up.
If anyone has told you differently, it is because they cannot read you to see where you stand.

Trump is the problem, not just part of it. If he had encouraged everyone in our country to wear a mask in March or April we would be ahead of this virus and perhaps got it under control. Instead he mocks everyone who wears one which of course his followers listen too. You know, our state is doing extremely well dealing with this virus because we have leadership. I am not against the republican party at all. You know that. But Trump is not a republican. He's just a nightmare and has no idea what he's doing.

You and I are on the same page when it comes to masks, and about Trump's mishandling of the mask issue. He is certainly part of the problem. But unless liberal Democrats in New York and DC and certain other states are unusually prone to following Trump's lead on this particular issue, the blame does not rest solely with him.

And yes, I'm quite pleased with the leadership that our governor has shown. I really do hope that he has aspirations for higher office after his term expires.

This is not the same situation. I don't see how this helps him at all.

Trump has no idea and no plan how do deal with this virus. We have been going though this most of the year with no end in sight. Trump left it up to the governors because he didn't know how to lead our country. So don't blame it on democrats.

I don't know if it hurts his chances but having his campaign manager out due to COVID does not help......Nor the head of the Republican Party
