Please explain, I'm just an average person, why does everyone think getting a rapid test that is barely accurate makes it okay to do this? After months and months of scientists saying that we shouldn't have these events is it okay that the people in charge of our government are ignoring the responsibility of the country and its people. Why are people so dense not one person stopped this event?
A room with no windows, air conditioning and no masks. Sigh.
Note many news articles show the picture or the event in the Rose Garden. In the photo here at top one man at the left is wearing a face mask, Senator Tom Tillis, one of the eight people known so far believed to have been infected who attended the vent. This has led to some commentary on websites to the effect "see that shows face masks don't protect you". However in these two other photos we see Senator Tillis speaking to Amy Coney Barrett and a boy not wearing a facemask

Inside the White House Event Now Under Covid-19 Scrutiny
"Few people at the outdoor ceremony wore masks or kept their social distance. But experts say the more risky time spent that day was at a reception inside the White House, where President Trump met with a smaller group of guests."
Why should they be quiet? They tell you masks don't protect you from the virus and that chances are quite likely you won't have any symptoms after being infected by it or at worse only mild symptoms that won't last longer than a few days.
OK. let's suppose that an ultra-"liberal" (I'll choose Barbara Streisand, just as an example) hosted an event for a group of her fellow-travelers as she as been known to do, and the event were held outdoors, say in Central Park, on a hot day.
The immune response, including duration of immunity, to SARS-CoV-2 infection is not yet understood. Patients infected with other betacoronaviruses (MERS-CoV, HCoV-OC43), the genus to which SARS-CoV-2 belongs, are unlikely to be re-infected shortly (e.g., 3 months or more) after they recover. However, more information is needed to know whether similar immune protection will be observed for patients with COVID-19.
CDC isn't sure. W/ other genus', yes, but "more information is needed to know whether similar immune protection will be observed for patients w/ covid-19"
How are we going to get through it? Should we wait until the flu goes away as well?
Sooner or later, we'll have to live with it, and without the "chicken-little" obsession with security which has been foisted upon us by another group pandering to an obsession with security at all costs, for ulterior motives.
