There is no debate. Trump refused to participate, the debate was cancelled, and ABC booked Biden, who will spend his evening on the hot seat being interrogated by actual voters for an hour and a half with no one to interrupt him. It amounts to tens of millions of dollars in free publicity for him.
Biden didn't "chicken out" of anything. That was Typhoid Trump the Featherweight who laid an egg and fouled his nest.
I would love to see Trump in that type of setting trying to answer questions from people that he has to be polite to.
It was already agree to in person debate format. Trump been cleared by his doctor. So what is the problem? It should be held in person and not this bs virtual format.
The problem here is Trump had his doctors sign NDA's, and nobody knows what is really going on with him. No one knows when he really got sick and no one knows when he will cease being toxic.
He is very irresponsible, like a spoiled child ... and a monstrous liar. He got Herman Cain killed and many other Trump believers who put their faith in his assurances. He recklessly broke out of the hospital (who working there could say no to the president?) and went back to the white house and polluted the place without a mask. A hell of a lot of people work in that building complex.
He got himself sick, through his own negligence ... it is proper to take precautions so he doesn't put other innocent people at risk. A solution was found to accommodate both candidates AND the audience and moderators and camera crews ... and Trump is using the technical changes as an excuse to back out. This isn't the first time a presidential debate was held remotely, this is not new or radical.
Biden doesn't need the debates to crush Trump, but he consented to continue and didn't use the changes as an excuse. He is giving Trump a chance to redeem himself from his disastrous previous performance (not that Trump deserves it). Trump needs the debates but he has lost his confidence. The changes mean he would actually have to do a real debate this time, expressing himself with logic and reason and discipline, and he knows he is not up to it.
Trump's cowardice is showing and that has turned the theme of this thread entirely on it's head. It is Trump doing what Trumpies mistakenly thought Biden would do.
Trump once again sabotages his own campaign. It is so pathetic we are embarrassed for Trump ... well, maybe not ALL of us are embarrassed for him ... maybe not even most of us ... but it's still pathetic.
In addition to being a lying dog-faced pony soldier, and a proven plagiarist, Joe Biden is a lily-livered COWARD. Of course the Democrat base loves that - they like it when their leaders share their own traits.

By your logic I guess he's a coward for NOT doing something stupid. Saying he should willingly go into an enclosed room with a highly infectious person is beyond ridiculous.
But it is a great source of amusement watching Trumpers double down on their stupidity in pretending that the person who agreed to appear is the one who canceled and that the person with the deadly disease he wants to keep spreading is somehow the brave one even though he's the one who chickened out
The Debate Committee decided it was best for all concerned including their own employees to have the debate done virtually.
They didn't even run it by Trump or Biden.
It was their decision.
No the way it works is each side need to agree on the rules of the debate etc, they can't just unilaterally change the rules.

You ever hear of HIPAA? Doctors do not need to sign NDA being they can't talk about their patient without their patient permission regardless if one signed NDA or not.
Biden just said that the second debate shouldn't go forward if Trump is still positive for COVID.
