For those who do not know the threat to our democratic system of government, if our Supreme Court were to have its number of seats doubled in size and its new members arbitrarily filled by the leadership of an existing political party, Venezuela ought to serve as a chilling contemporary warning, and cause every freedom loving American voter to be fearful of “court packing”, and that means “court packing” by either political party!

In 2012, Hugo Chavez, the socialist president of Venezuela died, and was replaced by Chavez’s hand-picked, Nicolás Maduro. Soon thereafter, the Supreme Court that was “packed” with 12 new Justices loyal to President Hugo Chávez’s party, begins to neuter and destroy Venezuela’s democratic system of government. See: 2013: Maduro Challenged by Opposition Leader

“As Venezuela’s situation worsens, the Maduro regime arrests opposition political leaders and shuts down news websites and detains journalists, leading to criticism from the U.N. and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. In 2017, Venezuela’s Supreme Court, filled with Maduro loyalists, take away the powers of the National Assembly, increasing Maduro’s control. The following year, he is reelected overwhelmingly in an election that a coalition of other western hemisphere nations says “lacked legitimacy.”

In another article dated, 2004, by Human Rights Watch, Venezuela: Chávez Allies Pack Supreme Court we find:

“Five years ago, President Chávez’s supporters helped to enshrine the principle of judicial independence in a new democratic constitution,” said José Miguel Vivanco, Americas director at Human Rights Watch. “Now, by packing the country’s highest court, they are betraying that principle and degrading Venezuelan democracy.”

And here we are today, with a Democrat Party Leadership controlled by “socialists”, refusing to tell voters if they intend to “pack” our Supreme Court, which most certainly would lead to a devastating assault on our democratic system of government, and reduce it to a Venezuelan type dictatorship, ruled by unelected Justices hand-picked by the Leadership of a socialist opposition political party.

Before you vote, I suggest you view the following video giving a glimpse into our future should our Supreme Court be packed by the Leadership of a political party.

Correction: Harris/Biden, not Biden/Harris. Pelosi is already setting the stage for old Joe's removal.

I would like to know their stance on it but it won't be a deciding factor for me either way since it's the legislature that would have to take that action.

And what would a democrat controlled legislature do?

I can assure you Schumer was 100% serious and being honest when he indicated if given the opportunity, packing the Supreme Court "is on the table".

It isn't "if" they plan to. They DO plan to, which is why neither of them will answer the question.

And why that should scare everyone on both sides is because if the GOP has shown us anything in the last 20 years, it is that their only single use of political courage seems to be taking any new Democrat precedent that was created/implemented to diss the GOP, cranking that new precedent up to 11, and dropping a bomb on what the Democrats took a wrecking ball to. And the perfectly predictable Democrat response to that bomb will be launching nukes the minute they can exact their revenge. And so it goes, over and over, endlessly....until every possible shred of the participatory democratic republic has been turned into radioactive glass in favor of the pure, no doubts whatsoever oligarchy/plutocracy.

Not that voting for Trump gets you much further, since a 2nd term where he totally doesn't concern himself with reelection means that he can go full tilt 100% revenge mode, which also does nothing but nuke democratic principles in favor of letting everyone know who runs crap up in this piece.

I am reminded of a lyric from Tool:
Quote:
Knuckle deep inside the borderline

This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to
It's never been this transparent, just how borked we all are no matter who wins. Not the White House, not control of the House or Senate, nothing, no matter which party or person. They've dropped pretty much all pretense and are being a lot more arrogant and defiant about things are going to be from now on...all of them.

Yes. Republicans complaining about it after they wouldn't even have a vote for Merrick Garland almost a year before Obama's term ended are the definition of hypocrisy.

But we don't know what they will do. They probably don't know what they'd do until they evaluate the situation in the future. Who knows, maybe Joe is 50/50 on the idea. Maybe he's leaning against it but doesn't want to shut the door completely without evaluating it.

Why would they give an answer if they aren't sure what they'd do right now. Then they'd look like flip-flopping Trump who changes his mind 3 times in one day.

The right has played hard ball twice regarding SCOTUS so the left can play hard ball too if they choose. But Joe is a moderate and he likes to get consensus and reach across the isle. Maybe Joe doesn't want to play hard ball like the righties do. Who knows. One can only guess what he'll do.
