Their nephew is in kindergarten there and seems to get treated just fine even though he's the only non-white kid in his class. He even gets to go to school IN PERSON and play with other kids in person. His brother has lived in the Orlando area for 8 years and really like it there so they are buying a house only a few blocks away from them.

They can't if people like you keep putting them at risk. Too bad you can't get control of your own state and get control of the virus. You are on track to be running out of Hospital beds.

There are plenty of tourists here, thanks to the all the stimulus checks the country gave. They're all spending it on a cheap vacation to Florida. Afterall, going out of the country is harder these days. I fly a bunch, and always the flights to Miami are packed, but not so much out.

There would be more tourists if our local idiotic leaders lifted the curfews and allowed nightclubs at full capacity as well as sporting events. Pretty much the entire country would come then, including you.

They're free to do what they want. If they feel at risk, I really could care less. Sucks to be them.

And run out of hospital beds?

Florida tourism plunged 60% in the 2nd quarter when DeSantis had his foot on our throats. Its rich he is now saying "we wanted society to function". He is a political hack.

In a way its been nice with very little traffic and have the golf courses to ourselves. Everyone gets their own cart too as opposed to two players sharing one. Masks are required inside the buildings but not on the golf course, although some people wear them anyway.

Nothing to really discuss here. DeSantis did what he thought was the right thing to do. There will be some who agree, and some who don't. That's just how it is. I do know a majority of his constituents wanted things done the way he did them. They did not want to be locked down. They did not want to watch their businesses fall into ruin. He is an elected official. He did what his people wanted him to do.

Here's a thought. You and your loved ones spend months and months basically sheltering in place out of fear of this virus. Then one day, the TV tells you hey, you can go out and be a normal society again. Yayyyyy am I right? So you put on your Sunday best, and the family climb into the car and you head off to town. And then a new teen driver doesn't stop at the red light and slams into your car at 55 mph. Or you slip on the wet pavement left my someone's yard sprinkler. Or you.......................infinity. You are not safe. We are never safe. We are mortal beings who are here for a short time. And that time is not guaranteed. There is no one out there allotting you with more time if you just follow certain rules. Wear a mask. Shelter at home. Social distance. Yeah, that's all great. The illusion of safety is intriguing to most people. Just so you know though, that is all it is. 90% of those masks being worn out there wouldn't stop a virus, or anything else for that matter. Sheltering at home and social distancing? Sure, if you want to weaken your immune system and ensure that when you do get back out in the world, you are going to get sick with something. It's only natural that this will happen when you deprive yourself of the ability to gain strength against the various pathogens, bacteria, viruses, etc. that are floating around out there all the time. How many of them? Delah.

But hey, it's fine, you folks go ahead and keep arguing over this virus. The fact is, we must continue to live our lives. We can not be afraid all the time. How tragic would it be for you to spend the last several months of your life afraid of a virus and restraining yourself from living your life to the fullest, only to die in some other random way when you finally decide it's SAFE out there. Live your lives folks. Safety is always an illusion.

People is going to either support him or not. I think DeSantis is doing a pretty good job. People need to work and eat. If you feel unsafe stay at home and if your at a store and nobody is wearing a mask then wear yours on. Friends of mines who move to the south do not regret it one bit its my turn.

I live in New Jersey you have to wear a mask everywhere and try to social distance, every store has a announcement about wearing a mask and social distancing and being safe. A lot of people is paranoid about catching the virus a facebook friend said he forgot his mask and ran into the store and people stared at him like he had 10 heads. He said he had to grab a mask out of his car. We had a long shut down and they finally allowed outdoor dining and then indoor dining at 25 percent. Sometimes the Governor will threaten to shut down or reverse order if nobody listens. Apparently the cops do check bars to make sure they are complying if not they get shut down for 30 days. The Bars/Restaurants has the tables set apart or marked off and you can sit at the bar you have to be spaced out. You can sit up to 8 friends at a table but you have to be spaced out from the other party.

A lot of people lost their jobs and tons of business are shutting down or downsizing.

The Governor is isn't very popular he won because he made a huge deal about legalizing pot and raising taxes and tolls and everyone heard pot and voted for him. He's up for reelection next year and he's talking about once again legalizing pot. New Jersey voters aren't very bright and they are digging this state more and more in a hole.

Same here in South Florida stores, businesses and sport events. I already posted the rules and restrictions for Broward and Miami-Dade.

I have been called a liar and a troll for stating this simple fact, but it is the truth.

NJ is open but with limited indoor capacity. Parts of FL are fully open.

NJ was one of the first states to get hit... so it had the worst cases due to lack of testing and general knowledge of the virus. In the initial states, they probably had infections going as far back as November, but no one knew... so it was spreading with no precautions. These states (with the exception of CA) are now in control.

FL is one of the deadliest states in terms of Covid right now. It will always be a battle between keeping everything open vs infection rate.

Open. Sure, but I was referring to mask mandates in South Florida. People obey the mandates, since its really not a big deal to wear one, and people understand they can save lives.

Yes, we have lots of deaths every day + 5600 new cases yesterday.

Broward county (Ft Lauderdale) is discussing easing more restrictions.
